this is my hotr cat, i copied the build from fightercat 57. i am using the turnigy 600 1400kv heli motor, turnigy 180 esc, 3s 5000mah 40c x 2 in series for 6s, hitec hs225mg steerign servo, hotr hardware and starting with m445, m545, m447 props. i was going to use a wire drive but couldnt get a 6mm to .072 coupler so i went with .187 which is what i have. getting ready for the maiden voyage today, will post results later tonight. if all is dry on the first run i will throw in the eagle tree and get some data on the set-up..

Do you mean 6mm x 078 coupler? They may not be on my site but have been making them for the bigger outrunners.

Jessie has a 6mm x 1/4 coming for his new big cat.. Whatever the size...do not hesitate to ask. They come many combos.

well here are the results. first run m445, 52mph, 121 amps and motor around 130 degrees. 2nd run was m447, 55mph, 154 peak amps and same temps. all data taken from eagle tree. i didnt have any temp sensors or rpm sensor hooked up but i will soon. i will try and post the files next time (it is all on my laptop now) as well as get some video.
in the end i ended up running a 215 prop. i dont have any data on it but it was alot better for playing around. my guess would be mid to high 40's on the 215.

this motor seems to be a power hog. i wasnt that happy about the peak amperage being so high. it wasnt constant but it did peak at several times over 135 and was over 100 whenever on the gas.

the boat ran good and straight with a nice ride angle and no porposing. it was a straight line monster but doesnt turn for beans... it is a slider. i run in a small pond and it was alot of off the gas to make the turns. i am sure it has more speed with the same props as i could never let it run, the tide was low and the land came up quick.

overall i can say this is a pretty good boat. i hit the set-up pretty good as i didnt adjust on anything yet. it reminds me of a tunnel as it slides the turns.

oh i did a little set-up on this boat and have eagle tree files if anyone is interested in the big outrunner. i was running a stock s/b m445. i added 1lb of weight to the right sponson to counteract the torque of the motor and it settled it down quite a bit. i was pretty happy with how it ran today. here are the numbers: rpms are higher than i like, max amps 162, speed 52. once again, notice how the cheap turnigy batteries have no significant drop in voltage as others claim.... 2 x 3s 5000mah 40c in series.

Could you try a 937/3 prop?

It's calculates to pull the same as an m545. Maybe more pitch with less blade will keep it under control.

You run fishing charters in Hawaii !!?? You are my new hero. I so want out of the frigid cold north. I have all these tropical reptile pets in the basement that use huge amounts of electricity to keep warm all the way up here in WI.

the 937/3 is not a sport prop by any means... just make sure that it won't burn your stuff up... high pitch props always tax the ESC and batteries a lot more then lower pitch bigger blades...

ya i am getting plenty for a sport "fun in my small pond" with a 215, i am not even going to try a 937..

Yeah, I'm going to learn more about them and start lower rpm and guesstimate it about like a 447 setup wise and go from there.
