Turn fins would help. Do you have dual rates on your radio? Try turning them down a little and that would help with the spinouts. Id like to se some more vids of top speed. Mabe a gps run or two. Looks good in the water and comes to plane nicely!!

Ya, I use the JR XR3I. I ordered the OSE turn fins last night. Once I get them on, I'll get Dirty's GPS and we'll see what it says.

yes, please GPS that boat! I still dont have a gps yet.

I figure you're running about 6k rpm less than mine, which really is probably as high as you want to go.

The spin outs can get obnoxious, maybe I'll finally try some turn fins, I'll wait to see how they work on yours

I see serious potential for new racing events. Am I the only one who's mind keeps screaming "Jet Sprint Races!!!"?

I think it's time to order one of the jets. I'll put some inserts in th mold a build up a DarkHorse 26 with a flat ride pad.

Can anyone coment on how durable the drives are?

Well, my graupner drive, the same as diego's, is roughly 9 yrs old or so and has been in two boats. The only thing I've replaced is impellers, which I now have a source for. Overall for a plastic drive that cost under $60, pretty reliable. Mind you also I've been running mine at over 33,000rpms, if I remember correctly the spec is for roughly 18,000rpms max.

It would be really cool to have some races. It seems jets are gaining popularity

here's my setup (villain IV hull)
That sw26 is the best hull I've seen yet for a jet, never knew they had a ride pad like that.

Do you think that a jet drive would be better on rough water?

                        Quick,
That villain is nice. I can see how you would suck up a rock, The water you run in is so shallow, and you DO have to steer around rocks that jut out of the water. I fortunately don't have rapids to run in here. The shallowest pond I run in is 2-1/2 ft deep.

Steven is shipping my Turn fins today :D

thanks, well, I voluntarily run in water that shallow. I do hit rocks too. :) I'm surprised you havent seen my videos.

they are good in rough water but you'll learn you have to play with the throttle. The drive does not like running dry and the boat go airborne a lot in rough water. Sounds like a jet ski, obnoxious little thing in some waves.
