Geico neon yellow - need paint

I am trying to get the local auto shop to replicate the Geico yellow, they need a car make n model and then a number I guess to be able to mix it up for me. Anybody know of a lead on this, the name of the paint color, etc? I want to use Duplicolor, I know there are other cheap rattle cans, but want to stick with the good stuff if possible.

    thanks

This was his response to me, just to keep all info in this thread.

The paint is just normal Valspar spray paint in fluorescent yellow. The paint goes on almost in powder form so I immediately sprayed clear gloos metal flake so it would bond. I finished up with Spraymax 2K urethane enemal as a clear coat. It is bright as hell and looks like it glows at dusk! I bought the paint locally at Mills Fleet Farm

turbine tubes? Ah, yes the very low profile stacks? no, I was thinking another kind of air intake/exhaust - will show pics when they go on.

hey jesse, i paint cars...i'll take a look thru some color chips tomorrow. i have about 10,000 color chips from every make and model car ever made. if i cant find anything close i'll let you know. that color might be one i would have to custom mix, but your like 2000 miles away lol. altho a good painter should be able to mix that color without a code. i wish i could be more help.

Thanks Dana, I know I have seen a Karmann Ghia in the right color yellow, also the cross walk signs are almost perfect - even reflective!! I do have a friend of a friend that owns a body shop that would be willing to mix me up any color in this small quantity, but since our hailstorm last month, and deer season, he is super busy. I was trying to take care of this myself and am having a hard time finding a code or name for this paint. If it gets too complicated, I will just go get me some metal flake clear and spray over the neon yellow I already have (its the right color, but not high quality. I figure as long as I put on a high quality clear coat, I should be OK.

I appreciate any info you can dig up on this enigmatic color.

yes a good clearcoat will make any old spraypaint look a whole lot better... does the geico color have flake in it?

Look for a color called 'Safety Yellow' it's the bright neon yellow found on some firetrucks, ambulances, etc.

Safety yellow was not enough green. I ended up finding a good paint at Ace Hardware, their own brand of glow yellow-green. there is a yellow and a yellowgreen. I will post exact name with pics of the boat. I then laid over that a thin fog of Duplicolor metal flake, and 3-4 coats of Duplicolor clear. (it used the whole can!!!).

Its on the top shelf drying, I try to get some pics tomorrow - its purrrrdy.

Sounds good! You should get it painted up and take it out tomorrow. I don't think it's supposed to dump on us again and I got the bullets soldered up to the Titan (also found my prop). Still got a full charge on my video camera if you want some footage of that one running. All I've got right now is your little banana boat.
