    Hi Fastvee and friends

Been following that thread and got a question.....

Since HK has started selling the bare hull I'm thinking of making a scale project similar to yours.

Speed is not the aim, but scale speed , reliability and long run time would be more important.

I'm thinking of doing a twim submerged setup with two brushed 540 motor. Any opinions of the project? Do you think that would work?

    Thanks

    Jerome

Hi Jerome, that would work well. I have planned of using single brushed motor and esc with reverse, twins would be even better!

If you get the boat, let me know and I´ll give you few tips what should be done b4 the maiden run.

About 10-15.000rpm and 35mm scale props on 2s would be my suggestion to start with.

Thanks for the reply. Will definitely let you know when I get the boat.

This boat looks like a perfect candidate for a semi-scale project that is meant to be admired on water not just go fast......

Thinking of adding some passengers, working lights and sound device to the boat, making it a party boat......

What are your impression about the quality? Is it good or bad? It looks like its a lot of hull for the price but the plastic parts are a bit of a let down.....

        Cheers

If u want a large 55" yacht this is a great buy for $300. He carries all the extras to make it very scale. Although it is shown in gas version it could easily be built electric. Very nice guy that owns the company too.

            But princess is my preference.

Ok for water on the front deck!, it's possible to make small hole for evacuation ?
And water can not fit through the rear opening (the tender garage!)?
The radar arch is fixed by 4? rivet or screw?
It's possible to make holes for instal real windows (in plexigalss or other) ?
What length between the rear transom and the end of the swimming platform?
The original transmission, it's height adjustable, for up or down the helix?

And sorry for my english !
missed this post somehow... but better late then never!

It is possible to drill draining holes and even tubing them so it would look nice.

The water does get sometimes under the "engine cover", but it is easily sealed with some window seal or similar self adhesive rubber seal.

The platform is about 55mm at the center.

The standard strut is pivotable, not height but tilt angle is adjustable(just a bit)

I have planned to cut the windows open and plexi glass them but it is not really easy because the hatch is solid and feels like it has been filled with urethane foam or something, I need to cut it open and take a look. If it can be cut open(why not) then the window mod should be easy enough.

It is not that bad, the fiberglass hull is better then ok and nuts&bolts are stainless, even the motor mount is water cooled(atleast this artr that I have has motor mount)

There is few videos on yt of the princess with lights and sound system, not my kind of thing but if you like that sorta things ,do it!

The worst part and the best part of this boat is the wooden decks. ,yes it is real wood ,not a sticker. But that wood absorbs water and it now looks and smells like sh** on my boat. First thing that should be done to the boat after unpacking it is poring epoxy thickly on the front deck woods and on the rear deck & stairs the epoxy should be brushed/spread with credit card or something an even layer of epoxy so the water never gets in contact with the wood.

I also suggest that you dremel the hatch opening larger, I cut about 10x15cm out and it is much easier to work with now.

The railings should also be clearcoated, mine is rusty in the welds.

Then the fun stuff can be build!

                  Hi guys,

Im wondering what if a brushless motor with a small 12v battery (like in motorcycles) would achieve. Providing of course that the hull's built & size could take an additional 4lbs of battery weight. 2 x 6v batteries could also be used, but I just dont know if those would be heavier than a single 12v batt.
Irregardless of speed, would a longer run time overheat the motor or esc?

and for 210 bucks it wasn´t that expensive.

                    Plans for the future are:

                    -Graupner Z-drive
                    -real windows
                    -real wooden decks
It's listed on their site at $433.00... how do I get it for $210???? looks REALLY nice in the water, i've never considered a boat like this but now you have me thinking :)

Sign up in Hobby King and place the item in your shopping cart. You would be pleasantly surprised that the $433 drops to $177. After choosing your shipping preference, it will cost a total in the vicinity of $200.

Why is this in boat building forum? -well I will modify this to look more scale, but at first it will be fully stock and just for cruising around the local ponds.

Random yt video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UPVvs1LJhw -looks like it rides nicely!

Rock and roll, I guess I wasn't signed in.. That happens sometimes, and I'll be browsing; a little window pops up and says: "get this item now for $xx!" and I get all excited... turns out its just the member price!

This thread is pure awesome! Love it. But, I have to admit that even though it did not look scale, I liked the way it moved with the upgraded surface drive. Would love to see some full throttle submerged drive and see how it goes. Looks like the "real" one has some serious power! :D

Got mine in the water finally, running stock motor with a Seaking 180 ESC and 4s 50c Lipo. Im getting Alot of Torque Roll. Any ideas what to do? i tried running the Battery in the stock position, and during the build i made a battery tray right in front of the motor that allows me to place the battery sideways instead of front to back. Neither position seemed to help much.

Nice thread & I applaud you for getting rid of the stinger & putting a subsurface drive in it. The rooster tail looks so wrong. That's why I bought this instead. And for the same reasons as you. To have a slow cruiser for relaxing.

It already has a sub surface drive setup. But it was way too fast & the torque roll would pick up & roll the rear of the boat & dive the nose in under the water at only half throttle.
Inappropriate setup with their stock 2700kv motor on the recommended 3s & with their 445 prop. Even 2s was too much. With a smaller prop too. So now it has a 1000kv motor on 3s & a 437mm prop. Much slower now at full throttle. A nice scale speed.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!
