    Hobbyking Princess boat

Ok, I just had to order this so I would have one boat that I can use to relax, not to go fast for 3 minutes and go back home to cool the esc and motor and recharge batteries...

Why is this in boat building forum? -well I will modify this to look more scale, but at first it will be fully stock and just for cruising around the local ponds.

Random yt video of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UPVvs1LJhw -looks like it rides nicely!

and for 210 bucks it wasn´t that expensive.

    Plans for the future are:

    -Graupner Z-drive
    -real windows
    -real wooden decks

It is bl, there is also the nitro version available, but I ordered the electric version.

I will make it slower then stock, it is too fast for stress free cruise.

            Just got the boat!

            Looks really nice actually.

The radar thingy was broken, fixed using ca.

The table at the rear deck is plastic, not wood like the picture on HK. -But the wooden parts are real wood! -no stickers! just epoxied the decks so no future water damages there...

And the large hatch pin(that locks the hatch to front deck) broke smal piece off the front deck when I removed that hatch too fast. -ca to the rescue again!

Tomorrow I´ll get´err wet ant test the electronics.

And the boat with packaging stuff, cardboard etc weighted 4.2kg ,not the 5.7 that I paid HK....robbery....

Had to remove the strut, prop shaft and flex from the boat...-way too much play in parts .

Now the boat has SV27 strut, .150 cable and 3/16 prop shaft.
(looks like SV parts fit every boat I ever try them on)

Just returned from the maiden (With these SV parts) and it was really fun to drive.

Only 1 2S 5000mAh 20C lipo used, and it still was a bit too fast for scale.
(yes, huge boat and only one 2s !) -drove about 20 minutes and the pack was not even empty after that...

When I get my stuff from OSE I´ll do the sub surface drive mod on it.

Motor ,esc and lipo were all cool to touch.

That thing looks awesome running. Other than the rooster tail, it looked very scale. handled nicely and planed off.

Do tell, what is the running weight of the boat?

My scale shows 3.3 kg. it is about 100g accurate.

                    This is with 2S.

                      Still Wow!

                      Impressive!

A 3.3kg boat (7.3 lbs) running for over 20 minutes on a 2s-5000 amp battery, and didn't use it all. makes running a scale fast electric so reasoable. I wonder what the peak amp draw is on 2s? I mean, you were averaging under 15 amps.

what size is the prop, a 40 to 42mm? The battery should be less than 300 grams
(about .6 lbs) , so that is most of the weight in the boat itself.

I am now thinking about scale myself. A 40" dumas scarab, steerable "scale" outdrive(s). Not race speeds, but it would look great all detailed out. Would also double as a good rescue craft.

Did the ESC have reverse on it by chance? That would be cool.

125amp esc seems a bit overkill, but I guess it will drink it down as this is the same power in several of thier RTR go fast vees and cats on 3s and 4s.

Thank you for posting this, it is neat to see the other possibilities other than fast, fast and faster!!! Those are great also!

I just charged the battery, it took 5100mAh, so the 5000Mah battery was almost empty, but it still went like it was freshly charged.

Any case I have an Idea...2 2s in paraller would give 10000mAh and quite long driving time!

SAdly the esc is forward only, but I´ll install the MMM in there some day, or some other reversible esc.

The propeller is what was included with the boat, it is weird shaped one, but it works will meseaure it shortly.(edit: 40mm)

the scale outdrives/outboardssounds cool, I made one with my friend, check the finnsport thread in here somewhere. We also made the fastech with one outdrive.(it now has v hull and adjustable engine trim angle from radio)-check the fastec with z drive thread here.

Just ordered scale stuff from cornwallmodelboats, hope it is ok place...

                          Propellers,fenders,anchor,chain,rope,rudder...etc. scale stuff.

Will cut the hull a bit to make that scale strut shortly..

(why OSE does not carry scale stuff!!!)
