maybe you already tryed this but put a peice of cooling tube over the stuffing box where the flex comes out inside the hull, have the end that touches the flex just snug on the fex it will help with the water coming up the tube,,

ok just one quick question for you guys not trying to change subject just needed to know. building up this hull and the rudder i have is a single water pickup in it as i see i should have got a double. my set up is a 6s2p 180a esc with a fei11xl motor. prop is a x442 but thinking i can go to a x662 with some better cooling that is what my question is. I have the single pick up going to the esc then the cooler in front of the motor then into the motor sleeve. i was thinking of adding another pick up and running motor on one and then esc on the other. overkill but that is what i am looking for. just did not know if i could get away with putting a pick up on just one side under the hull or if i had to put them under both sides to create an equal drag. or if i could do just a transome pick up on one or the other side of the rudder.
I am overkilling this as i want really good cooling as i will ber running pretty hard on this set up. and i figure if i add better cooling i could go with the x642 for more pitch and faster speeds. Just want to know what you guys think. oh i would also put a seprate outlet on the other side of the hual for discharge.Comment

Just use a T splitter off of the single pick up, there is plenty of water flow to tap into. A second outlet wouldn't hurt any.
Check out this thread on cooling. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=10810FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

I run seperate motor and ESC cooling in almost all my higher performance boats. Probably dont need to, but I do. Its all personal preference. Using a flushmount type pick up under one side of the hull should not effect the way it handles... however, do one on each side and you can ditch the nasty hoses on the outside of your boat.Comment

I'm just really intimidated by slicing into the bottom of the hull!
"Das Boot" is going to exploit a new experimental type of heat sink in the belly of the hull, so perhaps it would be a good candidate for the water pickups! I've seen them done in other threads... It's just cutting a hole in the hull. A Hole. He he.
Should have time time to get the prop wet in the morning and see how the grease job does on the Apparition.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

Holes can be filledNahh, thru hulls are easy... just mark it out very well, cut it a little small and work it w/ a file until you get a perfect fit. Nothing to it.

There are so many special parts that can snag a single project and they break so dayum easy that in order to avoid disappointment and delays, I've decided to work with NINE various boats. 8 of them are cats, 6 of them are twins! Good luck keeping up with me! Ha!FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

Have you guys seen the new Apparition II ( http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...n_motor_(800mm) ) Its listed for $373.20 and while looking at the listing, a pop-up appeared offering me the item for $249,99 if I cart it immediately. It worked!, but I decided not to buy after all...Comment

The HK 2700kv Inrunners are almost a drop in replacement, but are on back order and require new couplers 5mm-4mm shaft IIRC the shafts are 4mm. Might be 3mm.
