How about take the set screw out of the drive dog use a pen mark the spot where the screw touches and drill a little dot right there so when you tighten it the set screw will sit right in the little hole and not move...Comment

Also, if you havent yet, change the set screw that came in the RTR drive dog. You need one you can actually tighten. Found that problem on the Genesis.Comment

Unless your still using the factory sq floating drive. Then it doesnt matter because the flex is not attached to the prop shaft. I cant remember if you changed it out yet or decided to wait. You have too many builds to follow Ben!

OK, so I keep dropping the prop size and picking up speed!
Running the CC 2650Kv on 4s w/34mm prop, hit 52mph. I don't get it.
w/38mm prop 46mph and running great on 4s (Until I hit the Manatee No Wake pole!)
w/40mm prop 38mph and running great on 4s
w/42mm prop 36mph and overheated on 4s
w/45mm prop 34mph and overheated on 3s didn't get to 4s
Today, with a slight glare from the sunrise, I hit a Manatee No Wake wooden pole at about 40mph. It tore open the nose of the hull and spit it apart.
Guess that's the end of my testing on the Apparition.
I'm still puzzled at why I kept getting water splatter in the hull. It didn't start doing that until after I broke the prop shaft a while back. The Genesis is doing the same thing. Seems there's water getting in the drive tube and being splattered by the drive cable... Argh. That's annoying. Maybe the strut needs to be better sealed where it meets the stuffing tube?
I dunno. It's a holiday, I'm at the beach and there's bikini's galore today. Time to take the dog for a walk at the beach.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

Hey Ben. That sux!!!!!! But its repairable. I had an ESC let go in a cat I have and blew the front apart. Looked identical to yours. If you cant fix it, let me know and I will do it. We can hook up or you can ship it.... but we should hook up so we can run some boats
Also, as for your slinging, slip a piece of your water cooling line over the end of the stuffing tube on the inside. A piece maybe 3/8 or so. Also, you can put a pice of shrink wrap on the stuffing tube below the hull and onto the strut. A few systems (ie the one OSE sells that is identical to the HOTR and Genesis) comes w/ a piece of wrap for that reason.Comment

Didn't even think of the shrink tubing! I guess the seal was broke when I adjusted the strut, I'll stick some on the Genesis, thanks!!
Yeah, I'm not sure which to use, fiberglass resin or regular epoxy on the hull. Typically I would just pour some resin, but resin repairs are prone to failure IME. I've had some good luck with the Loc-tite clear expoxy, so might give that a try. Thanks for the photos of the repair! I would have forgotten to tape it up.FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

No problem. I used epoxy and then backed it with a piece of fg cloth soaked in epoxy laminating resin and used a paint stick to get it to lay into the front of the tunnel so half was on the deck and half was on the tunnel floor (so between the sponson tips) to try and keep it together if any future mishaps come up. I also filled the sponson tips with 3/4 to an inch or so solid w/ epoxy.Comment

Still can't believe that I hit that dayum pole so hard!
FYI- it was a hard enough hit that it knocked the motor mount and servo mount loose too!FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment

Well... she isn't a purdy as she was this morning... but, she does hold water. I put about 12 ounces of water in the nose of the hull and let it sit for a while... She's all sealed up and ready to rock!
I took this opportunity to clean up the inside of the hull/hatch area.
I also re-mounted the ESC so it is no longer partially under the nose. It was a tight fit and I'm really wondering if having the ESC heat sinks partially covered was affecting it's ability to dissipate heat. We'll see.
Back to the 36mm prop on 4s!
The motor wires on this CC/Neu 2650 are really long. I'm wondering if I should shorten them. Don't really know how much of a difference it makes. It would be less resistance, but how much less?FighterCatRacing Team CHING BLING - Ching Bling. Brilliant, Advanced Sparkle for your hull.Comment
