    Fiji F1 Built Brushless

    Bula from Fiji,

My son Frank & I (origially from Australia) are in the early stages of putting together a new F1 boat & intend fitting it with an 820 GTX.
We have lots of question to put out there to you guys & would appreciate some advice.
Firstly we have designed our own boat but are not sure how wide to make the rear cockpit area to accomodate battery, servos & other running gear.
Secondly are we better off running an other engine?
We have many other questions but this will get us started.

    Vinaka...Neil & Frank.

In order to find out how much room you need, measure the batteries you will be using, make it so that there is some room for CG adjustments. About the motor, my only concern if you are not racing the boat, is in the ease of finding 4mm threaded props in your neck of the woods, if you don't mind buying from Europe of maybe AUS then that is a none issue... also make sure of what size flex it takes and see if it is available as these tend to break from time to time. if you are running it in the sea, make sure to buy lube an wash everything well after every time you go out, or rust will set.

Thanks...there is very little hope of buying anything for an RC boat here in Fiji so I anticipated scorcing all but the hull from elsewhere.
We have completed the design & jig. Will start cutting the frames out tonight & hope to post a few photos as we go.

        Slow Progress

        Things are moving very slow.
Note the powdery coating on the timber...it,s atype of mold, it,s very wet & humid in my part of the world!

alrite bud, looking good so far i also build build my own F1 boats.
as stated measure everything you in tend to use, also consider running your battery upfront of the hull,if you check out my thread (F1 24" finally finished iv posted some pics and vids in their that will help.
As for outboard the graupner unit is ok but cant handle much power as it only uses a 3.2 flexi, the bullet drive system is more suitable and reliable unit and available here in the ose store.

            Thanks for the information.
With some research I have already converted to the bullet drive way of thinking.
We will look up your thread & post some more pics as we progress slowly!

Living & working in Fiji is hard work.
With some local knowledge you can find some amazingly beautiful places.
As far as glossy brochures go.........some are a little missleading.
