Miss Vegas brushless conversion

It might work okay.... I don't know if i'd trust that motor at more than 75 amps continuous. But for sure you'll need the high amp esc with a high rpm-small prop setup like that.

It's always a good idea to shoot for 30,000 rpm unloaded. Don't know why, but this seems to be the magic number.

J.M.- I read through all of those links and from what your saying im confused. The boat is 30 inches long from tip of pontoon to back of it, which 1 inch bigger than the UL-1 which is 29 inches. I have a .150" flex shaft and the stock size Miss Vegas prop in brass which is 2 fin 37mm. The motor and speed controller i bought are similiar to the UL-1 except i have a higher amperage esc at 120 amps and a 2700 KV motor compared to the 2030 the ul 1 uses. Now instead of using 4s, if i dropped to a 3s would that be more suitable? I would then be running 29,970 which will be close to your suggested 30k mark. The two boats are almost identical so i figured I would just get close to the same specs as the UL-1 seeing that boat performs well right out of the box.


So to recapp this is what I have for specs now after reading those posts.

-30" from pontoon to back of boat if thats how its measured for hull size
-37mm 2 fin prop- so larger prop? or keep it the same?
-2700kv motor continuous draw 70 amps running at 3s which is 29,970 rpm.
-120 amp esc with a 3s 5000mah 20c battery which is 100 amp discharge on a motor that draws 70 amps.

Does this sound like it will work? Or should i just not waste my time and get a bigger motor. I tried to keep it close to the UL-1 because they are prtty much the same boat just about. Im just hoping that this motor may work because i allready spent the money on it and should be here thursday.

Allright here are pics so far. It isn't brillaint yet i still have to touch up some spots on the hull and sand down some patch spots. Its an older hull maybe 2006ish??? Not to sure bought it used.

Covered the exhaust hole with some fiberglass and resin and made a motor mount out of some stainless steel. I still need to trim it up with a dremel and sand down the original wooden engine mount to get the angle of the motor right so the prop shaft isn't kinked up.

I took out the original electronics box and am remounting the servo further back to shorten the linkage. Not sure where im going to put the battery or where the best place for it yet is. Suggestions would be helpful on that. Its a 5000mah 20c 3s.

Lemme know what you guys think.

I rebuilt one and ran a blackjack 1500kv motor and 45a esc on two 2s 5000 lipos with a x442 prop and only ran 29.8mph, dont no if that info helps at all,,, i had a stock 3blade ul1 prop on it first and couldnt get it on plane just kept nose diving...

Beautiful clean color scheme you have on that vegas....did you paint it?....what brand and color is that silver...rattle cans? and the ghost flames are killer

Thanks bustitup, yes they were rattle cans and clearcoat for cars threw a spraygun over that , all the flames and such are stickers offcores i still need to clear over them but dont want to, its alot of extra work...

First off you have your weight to far forward put CG at 1" behind the sponson, second that BJ26 motor needs more prop, that stock 3 Blade UL1 prop is to small.

some of the guys in my club are running the stock BJ26 esc and swinging 45mm props and thats in race trim they dont even get hot. Even the 1/10 guys in the club are running larger boats on the motors swinging 47mm props

Next that motor will pull easily over 70 amps if over propped, bind in the drive line etc. My Sv27 motor data logged over 88 amp peaks an 60+ amps continious on a 42mm prop and thats a mild set up. (On a motor that came with a 45amp esc)

Reading your set up it, will work, start small on the prop and run for 1 min and check your temps. would prefer a higher C rated pack (30c) set your cg at 1' behind the sponsons. ALWAYS START with short run time and time your self its easy to overheat a boat.

Ocutra m445 is the prop I am talking about and the BJ26 motor can take more. NOTE: EVERY BOAT IS DIFFERENT AND MAY LIKE DIFFERENT PROPS.

Once you try those lipos in the boat you will never put nimh back in! Start with that same 442 prop and work your way up.

here is what CAN happen if you start to big. (these are not mine but what happend to a racer at the last race in a beautiful 1/10 hydro) there is more story to these pics and the boat was not over propped,
