Reading your set up it, will work, start small on the prop and run for 1 min and check your temps. would prefer a higher C rated pack (30c) set your cg at 1' behind the sponsons. ALWAYS START with short run time and time your self its easy to overheat a boat.
THANK YOU!!! That is exactly what i needed to know. Im just waiting on one more part to get here till i can put it in the water an try it out. Having you tell me it will work makes me feel alot better about spending money on it. Even if it doesn't,' ill just take the motor and esc and put it into something smaller. Thanks i'll let you all know how it works.

I finished the boat and posted pictures up on my flickr. When I was programming the aquastar 120 esc, it had a timing adjustment low med high and auto. Should i just leave it on auto? Or is there a benefit from using one of the other settings? Also jeepers you meant 1 inch behind the sponsons right not one foot right?

I seem to be having difficulty finding different props for the vegas. It has a 1/8'' shaft and all i seem to be finding are 3/16''. Where is a good place to get props? And how do the numbers work on the props? I keep seeing people mention like 442 and so on, what does it mean? And last question whats the difference between 2 an 3 blade and which is better and for what application?

on your esc I dont know I have never used one, yet.... your still doing the 3s set up right?

yeah the cg its one inch not a foot, typo sorry about that

the best place for props is OSE! and I believe Steven V. has a shim that will adapt a 3/16 prop to a 1/8 shaft.
here is some info for props it it should answer your questions. there are some different sections to read.

            SHE WORKS!!!!! Kinda.....

Well took the converted Miss Vegas out today on the water for the first time. Had a lil problem at first adjusting the CG at first because it kept nose diving when i went to start it up, moved the battery back some and got it going. Finally got everything set up right and went for the maiden voyage. I floored it from the start, it started a tad be sluggish then it came out of the water and on plane after about 2 seconds and wow did she go!!!! Have no idea how fast it was but it was pretty fast according to my buddy who has been rc boating for a while. Came back after 2 minutes of running and the motor and esc were barely warm to the touch and the battery was cold. So i have room to get a bigger prop. But i am happy with the way it runs right now.

Now for the kinda part of the story. After getting it going nice and strong all of a sudden i was coming out of a turn and half way through a straight away the thing just nose dived right into the water and popped back up. Quit dead in the water. Took ten minutes to try to retrieve. Thought i fried the esc and motor but there fine. I did fry my reciever but I have more so no bigger. My question is WHY DID IT DO THAT after running so great?????? I don't think i hit anything submerged, and it didn't abrubtly stop it just nose dived, none of the weight shifted in the boat so I have absolutly no clue. Anyone have an answer maybe?

I figured out today jeepers that the bec was set to high. It was set to 10volts. instead of 9 so I shorted myself so it just died and nosed dive. And it had a lil bit of water in it too so it all sloshed forward when the power was cut and in she went. But she is working great now!

After 4 minutes of running the motor battery and esc are all barely warm to the touch. Im running a Y535 for a prop but i don't fully understand pitch yet. Should I increase the size of the prop and keep the pitch the same? Or should I keep the size the same and increase the pitch? I know that if the pitch is 2.125" that in a perfect world the boat would move that far with one rotation. So if I increased thepitch i would go faster? And put more load on the engine?

So question is in your opinion what would be a suitable next size up prop?

Hyrdojerry- I am running 1 3s 5000mah 20c pack and it is now mounted behind the motor. I did some changing to it last night and it runs like a champ now.

Having the battery in front of the motor put to much weight in the nose so it kept eating it. So on the vegas stock it had that black electics box that sealed things up , so what I did was cut the bottom out of it and used it as a plate as you can see in the new pictures that I posted on my flickr, this way rather then changing my trim on my rudder and what not, i can just move the battery back a lil bit to bring the nose up, or forwards a lil bit to bring it down depending on how choppy the water is. I used velcro to secure everything too.

I also made a new motor mount that works way better then the straps. I used an old firewall engine mount for an airplane, made a plate to mount to it and Glued it in the boat with some 2 part glue, works like a champ.

MY CG is now about 1 1/2'' - 2" behind the sponsons which seems to be the magic spot. Your pictures look like there would be almost to much weight in the nose of it. As long as you hit 30k rpms with your motor and batts, you should be good. I have a 2700 kv motor on 3s so that hits about 31,000 on a fully charged batt. I'm gunna GPS mine tomorrow and see how fast it is.

----Also what did you use and how did you paint the hull? What is the purpose of the extra stuff aroun dthe inside of the boat? and how did you remove the stock pieces of wood that were on the hull. I have no idea how to get that stuff off without breaking the hull.

When painting mine i used Duplicolor spray cans then got some Duplicolor Automotive clearcoat and sprayed it threw a spray gun,,,Remember i got my hull used and damaged, the insides were already done like that so after fixing the body i just installed my electronics,,the extra stuff,do you mean around the hull opening if so it is like plexieglass and i have a sheat that covers the open part so i can tape it down and just clip on my original hatch and she's water tight...i can show a pic tonight,,,

I've done 4 runs with it now and its running great. I want to clean the hull up a bit more by painting it and cleaning up the electrics inside now that i know I have an excellent working boat. Im going to try to get a vid up soon.

I also need to get a bigger prop to get it going faster now. The motor esc and battery are barely warm to the touch after a full pack through it so i have room to prop up. I'm doing research now to figure out where the best place to go from here is with a prop. Ive got a y535 on it now so I still need suggestions on what to do next.
