My experience: I use model cement since it is a styrene base plastic. I use the MEK liquid type, just a brush, hold together for a half minute, then move on to the next section.

I do the back transom first so it is secure. Before gluing, setup the hull and hold the sides into place with a couple pieces of masking tape first, keeps the hull from shifting around. Then I do the fronts of the sponsons. After that, just move around the hull and from side to side to keep it all straight.

the one and only I did turned out really well. Then I filled it with two part foam, but I did it in multiple pours and it was too warm. Didn't wait between pours and it deformed all over on me! So I threw that one out.

The next one, I am going to reinforce the hull before joining it together. Scuff up the inside surface and glue in some real light glass to give it some strength. CA and glass might work well on a boat this size. You need to scuff up the surface first.

I have also heard of some epoxies that are plastic compatible, they must etch into the surface some. That would be helpful. The CA I use doesn't touch it and it will pull right off.

You going with a single or twin?

Small, isn't it. After putting one together, I have new respect for the guys making twin 14" and 16" cats!

hi befu, i was wondering if you would sell me one of the hulls you made before the mold broke. it doesn't really matter if it had perfect crisp edges or anything. i live in Il so i was wondering if you could ship it. i would pay for the hull plus the shipping. this looks perfect for the guts from my mini v. the mini v is too overpowered. so this 18" would be perfect. i mean PERFECT. please sell me one!!!!!!!!!

oh and it doesnt really matter if the halves are joined or not. i might pay more if they are though:). i was also going to put my 2835 2700kv motor and x430 prop and ose stru into a mini c, but this looks so much cooler and sleeker, and its also bigger which is good.

looks good that should add a lot of strenght to help at higher speeds.

What weight glass did you use? That fabric doesn't even look like it's wetted out...

Well, my 2632-3000kv mystery outrunner showed up today, so my 8 year old is prancing wanting to build a cat after his crackerbox. Started trimming a hull up and I just do not know.

I fixed the vacuum form mold, but still not happy with it as I have posted. I am in the process of filling the vacuum ports with clay so I can try to pull a fiberglass plug. I am thinking a hull laid up from 3oz glass and carbon fiber tissue would be way ahead over the vacuum formed one. I am also waiting to see how jerry does on his.

That 2632 sure looks little in that cat, but I think it will push it nicely. twins would definately work, but want a more conservative setup for the 8 year old.
