Weldone for your 18" mystic ! very good job like an engeneer ... I an agree with you : the mystic cat is beautiful. I am trying to built it in 1/12th scale : the master is finished : the mould of the cockpit too but it is not easy (lol) :we are going to try the vaccum modelling !

second pull
Ok, tried it again tonight. What do you do on Friday nights?
This time I tried to warm the mold and I used .060 HIPS plastic.
Below is what I got. It is much stronger, this is what would be needed for a twin. The .040 is light, but will need to be filled with foam for a single. Kind of similar once done to a wood or glass over foam build. But do the skin first, box a cavity for the internals, and fill the rest with foam.Attached FilesComment

progress?
Well, progress means forward, right?
In a quest to get finer detail out of the bottom female vacuum mold, I ended up cracking it!
So, I have stopped on the vacuum forming the lower part for now. I attached the broken pieces to a piece of MDF and I am fixing it up. I will have to fill the vacuum holes and then look into laying the bottom up from glass and make a new male plug for vacuum forming over that.
I did get 5 or 6 bottoms out of the mold before it boke, some are pretty good, non as good as what I wanted.
So for now this is on hold as I am trying to finish up the crackerboxes with the cubscouts. Give me a week and check back thenComment
