final set of pics. Once I get my innards set and glued, then I finish my graphics. I have talked to an automotive painter who is pretty psyched to do me up the SNAV OSP paint scheme - one of the winning Italian teams.
Thanks guys, I think I will go work a little more on her - drill some more holes. I haven't gotten her painted yet, but I may have to try her out first.
Wes, I will be thinking about that... that would mean I would have to glue the stuffing tube no later than Thursday night... Would be good to give her a shake down before the paint job, eh? I will talk with my copilot and see about this weekend, would be nice to get away!
Well, you got me motorvated - the stuffing tube is in a pool of epoxy and the flex shaft - stub assembly is curing. Tomorrow I hope to get the motor mount glued in and then the steering servo mount. I am trying to get the weight as far back as possible so I can have as much battery lower and possibly in front of the motor.
Figured I would stick with aluminum and CF (not that Wolf's enthusiasm was contagious or anything) so whipped me up a little servo mount for my little servo. This ought to be enough force to work this guy - please comment if you have experience with this servo. Incidentally, it came out of a DF 29 that I got from Alvin and it turned it well enough.
I fused two plates together then siliconed the servo to the plate. this I attached to the motor mount with three screws, more than enough. I checked the strength and will probably have to secure it to the transom - but I want it removable. I placed it here so I could get the batteries as close to the transom as possible. Started some of my cooling lines.
For securing the motor mount, I used 30 min epoxy and light fiberglass, turned out pretty nice (the photo really is blurry, even you aren't drunk).
I also added t-nuts to all the hardware - is there any reason I shouldn't coat the whole transom with epoxy? Would add water seal and extra secure to the t nuts.
funny, that's what I thought - and then I swapped it out for a regular sized HT MG servo!
I have her all together now, just need some significant phase change in all the ponds - I may be tempted to try some open river.... or make mega drive up to Wes's neck of the woods.
Funny you say that, I think I need to move to a warmer place where the ponds don't hibernate for half their lives. Building and setting up seems to be the funnest part - until I get into racing, another reason to move to nicer climate.
Just bench tested her and all checks out.... so do I test her in the half frozed river (not serious, well not too serious about this idea) or strip her down and hand her over to the painters?

Never say never Jesse, about the half frozed river. Been down to the creek the last three days and finally getting some of the bugs worked out. Boat looks really good so far.
Wish it weren't 3hrs each way... 6hrs in the car and trying to convince the wife there is something worth it (boats don't count with her) is not proving successful. Maybe next month when she has a spring break we can come up for a weekend and check out the creek.
As far as the river, there are some slow spots, and no real risk of getting out of casting range (for the recovery fishing rod)... but then again.....
