Well, my son and I ventured to Syracuse today to take the Mystic hull to the G3 crew chief's paint shop. What a day!
They had the owner/drivers' MHZ large Mystic that they had painted recently in the shop. This hull looks amazing, what else can I say. It is planned to go on Gregg Rosens coffee table unless I can help it. It needs turbines.
I was told that every owner of the full size Mystic gets an RC version of it from MHZ. Standard fiberglass version.

Great conversation about offshore racing and R/C boating.

Can you imagine this thing on your "coffee table" My wife would kill me. "does it have a motor? Does it have a motor?"

Left the Mystic with them to make it look pretty. When it's back I promise I will start the build. Poker run is June 20th and I have to have it done and bugs worked out.

Wow! They are definatly the guys for the job! I'm not sure there are many paint shops in the UK that would do this as good as it should be.....
Hope yours turns out as good and I can't wait to see it....
Out of intrest, Is this one the same size as yours?

No, it's the MHZ 72" version. Everything was scaled from the real thing. They even made custom Stanless turbine outlets.

It is a beautiful paint job! Are you using any vinal on yours or all paint?
How old is your son? I bet he went nuts in that place? I have a 2 1/2 YO daighter and she already gets it all. She love Ice hocky, boats and "yellow cars"??? and I can't keep her off my drums....
Having said that, I think I would be like a kid in a candy store too!!!!

Nicholas is 11 and he was pretty much speachless. They has 2 - mid 60's Vetts in there they were restoring and a 65 Mustang. Boats were the topic of conversation however.

Most of the Mystic will be paint and airbrushed. They will be doing a few vinyls like the G-3 Logo and #10. Everything will be clearcoated. The decales they are going to make from the original set they used on the full size boat, just scaled down. Same PPG paint as the real thing. Should be sweet.

Unfortunately the paint shop still has the boat! I will be calling them today. They told me Feb-March is their slow time which is why I left it with them. I spoke to the owner 4 weeks ago and he told me they were having issues with the "Safety Orange" they use. The sun has been turning the phosphorus in the orange pigment white on the real boat and he didn't want to do mine until they got the paint right. Told me they have had to repaint the orange on the race boat 4 times now.
My hope was to have the boat done in time for the Alexandria Bay Poker Run on June 19th.
