Empirical data trumps theory every time

With all due respect, Mr. Ghost... that hardly qualifies as "Empirical Data"...



I just tried to do some actual research on the matter... but from work, it's a little hard to do searches on the subject without getting into trouble...


It's hard to imagine, however, that an openly Gay or Lesbian person would strongly support a party that, in general, doesn't approve of their choices and would generally work to restrict those choices... I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it so I could be wrong...

lol...Regardless what is posted...Obama will take it, even if they(Repubs) try to pull a GW Florida and Ohio...The momentum to strong...and yes politics and religion will expose the uglies of humanity, it never fails...Americans lacked the courage to elect Ron Paul...Because under him most of the establishment would have crumbled... ALL forms of governments have, Socialism, Communism, Fascism , capitalism, et'al in them...they all maintain a particular balance...it's when one gets out of control is where the problem start.

I'm certain there are a lot of "alternative lifestyle" folks in the Elephant Party. I welcome them into our group. Just as there are a lot of "Jews for Jesus" (I call those people Christians though..... ); but as Darin said, they are probably the minority in the party just because the party line does not parallel their lives.

I suppose it is the same reason you don't see a lot of gun-toting Bible-Thumpers and the "Law-and-Order" crowd (NOT the TV program) in the Donkey Party.

In the end, I don't really care that much about your personal life choice, as long as you "get your mind Right" and get your hand out of my pocket.

Powell's point was that it is at the most basic level anti-American to attempt to slander a person by calling them a Muslim. Those trying to do it demonstrate both their ignorance of the facts and their inability to understand the very Constitution they say they hold so dear. Obama is NOT a Muslim and even if he were one it is simply ignorant to think that it is disqualifying.

And I guess you have overlooked that GWB has indeed negotiated with radicals, how do you think the "Anbar Awakening" happened?? But I suppose you are one of the "Tough Guys Don't Talk" crowd. Go in with guns blazing and let God sort them out. But that does not seem to have worked very well, has it??

There you go putting words in my mouth that I did not say. I speak of his deference to "our Middle-Eastern Brethern" (see above quote from "Meet the Press"), and his eagerness to disarm the military to a level that makes them happy. I did not say he IS a Muslim (even though he was registered as such in a Muslim elementary school in Indonesia, and his father and step father are Muslim). I honestly do think he is the Anti-Christ with all this feverent support he is receiving when he has no real accomplishments to his name.

Other than the fact he is not George Bush, what has he done to generate all this support? Hang out with radical anti-American individuals and groups? Burn flags? Admit his hatred of this country?

Mind you, I believe McCain is the Manchurian Candidate (with all that entails), I'll grant you that. B.O. is just far worse in my eyes.

Maybe it doesn't mean anything... maybe it does... But combined with all the other things he's said and done, one has to question the motives...

Sorry Joe... the motives are pretty important, and based on the information available and the long, long string of relationships and speaches and interviews and two books and on and on... I think the intentions of this candidate are in question.

I had a lot of respect for Powell until recently... I was even hoping he'd run for president one day...

But... He has forgotten that it was REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATIONS that put him into EVERY position of greatness that he's had during his journey... He apparently took what he needed, then moved onto the next thing that will suit his agenda... Or that's how it appears, anyhow...

I HONESTLY hope that I'm proven wrong about all this in the near future... I'll come on here and everywhere else and admit to my failure to read the situation correctly...

Why do I have a feeling I won't have to be doing that anytime soon??

Darin, Cowell Powell is the man..a true shooter..but he was let down by the CIA and other republicans. That is the man who should be running. A real shame and the Bush crownies have only themselves to blame. From a conservative point of view he is a very honest individuall and does not have the support of the party. a real shame.

I believed that was true... but I question it now. I think the fact that he would do a big "STICK-IT" to the GOP like this raises questions about what he is saying now.

Perhaps he's right, and he clearly sees BO for what he is and the rest of us are wrong...

Oh... I don't know about weak... I'm thinking if Palin had her way... she'd shove 'ol Yosemite Sam off to the side and take over this ship... She's ready for a fight and she can likely bring it...
