The idea that Obama will attempt to convert the United States to a socialist state is perhaps the best evidence of the success of propaganda. And the defense that is offered by those who have swallowed this absurdity is that the other side are the Kool-Aid drinkers. This is a classic Rovian device. Accuse others of doing or being exactly what your are.

An Dr. Jet, I know for a fact that you are an intelligent person and it saddens me to see how deeply you have bought into this stupidity. Obama the "Anti Christ"??

And finally, the remark about the Star and Crescent simply shows how baseless your opinions are here. Regardless of how many times it has been proven that Obama is not and never has been a practicing Muslim, this thread of dishonesty is held out for the GOP faithful to cling to.

Here is sad evidence of the success of this type of campaign of misinformation:

But pay special attention to this quote and who said it:

Colin Powell on Meet the Press last Sunday: "Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer is no. That's not America. Is there something wrong with a seven-year-old Muslim American kid believing he or she could be president? Yet I have heard senior members of my own party drop the suggestion that [Obama] is a Muslim and might have an association with terrorists. This is not the way we should be doing it in America."
    Don't get me started

Whats most important to me is that we have been able to keep a civil debate. Imagine this type of debate going on in other parts of the world? In some places they would find us then cane us or worse!

I find it difficult, at best, to understand how direct quotes, actual audio, and clear as a bell video of these statements being made BY the candidate himself can be considered anything but factual... He SAID it to Joe the Plumber, and then we hear him supporting it again way back in 2001... Didn't he review Bill Ayer's book in between then and now as well???

Interesting... All the text I've written here concerning the school systems and such...

If you think you haven't heard any "original thought" come from some of us, then I think it's more a matter of you not wanting to hear it...

By the way... All you have to go on from the Obama campaign is many, many months of taking them at their word... There isn't a track record of him doing ANYTHING he's saying he's going to do as far as helping the "majority" of us out here... His rhetoric doesn't match his past actions at all... NOTHING you can say about that side is anything beyond what they have told you in the media or on the campaign trail, and is, therefore, by definition, NOT an original thought... It's just regurgitating what they are telling you to regurgitate...

I for one enjoy the banter ....anyone getting their panties in a bunch shouldn't be posting in political or religious threads IMHO.
I would be sorely disappointed in our rabidly right leaning friends here if they held a grudge and didn't acknowledge for instance a favorable comment on one of their boats just because our politics collide.
Heck one of my best friends is a flaming right wing warmonger republican and he knows I'm a peace loving fiscally conservative democrat but we still fly and boat together most weekends and even talk about socio/political topics without (outwardly) wanting to strangle each other

            Bill,

I don't know how you can deny it when there is such a track record of him using these very ideas over and over and over again, to direct policy even... It's not like we are making this stuff up... There is a LOT of media worthy evidence to prove the points...

I think the supression of this information is the real success of propaganda... Let's get serious.... the MAJORITY of the media has been Pro-Obama this entire campaign, or at least since Hillary was beaten...

The reason that ABC, NBC, CNN, etc., don't feature these stories isn't because they don't have merrit... it's because they don't fit their agenda.

How do you negotiate with a group that has the following position? "If you are not one of us, you are an Infidel. Death to the Infidels."

Maybe only death to half the infidels in exchange for peace?

Civil political banter is fun....as long as each party admits his prejudices in the beginning and doesn't resort to baseless name-calling (a common Left-Wing tactic - calling someone a racist homophobe if they don't agree with the party line). I'm a (proud) Right-Wing extremist, SoCal Bill is a Left-Winger. Rush, Hannity, Savage, Roberts and such all admit to being Right. Hollywood admits to being Left. The problem is CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, the NY Times, the NY Post, the LA Times, the San Diego Union-Tribune, and so on ad. infinitum, claim to be "neutral", but they are heavily invested in the Left, yet they will not admit it publically.

I can still be friends with the Lefties, I harbor no animosity about your individual political views (I am tolerant of diversity, unlike so many on the Left). I may feel pity for those on the Left, but I can still call SoCal Bill a friend.

                              Douggie,

The only saving grace to this situation is that newspaper subscriptions are going in the toilet. Mainly for two reasons; The Internet, and savvy people don't want to read the garbage they print.

The other problem is the same 3 media moguls control TV, and viewership there is not on the decline. As I said somewhere else, there are ignorant people everywhere that eat this stuff up.

Mmmmmm... Yum!! Fresh hot propaganda on my TV screen. Less filling; Tastes great.

                              We're screwed!
