I wish I got to listen to music at work. I work with some real grouches. Open a bag of chips and people start complaining. So when I get home after a stressful day. I try to kick back and listen to music. For me, it is an intimate experience. My primary focus is old skool R&B. But I listen to just about anything except country. I listen to Jazz, classical, Rap, pop, Rock, Doo Wop, etc. Depending on my mood, I may stream from the internet, MP3's, CD's, Albums, Tapes and even reel to reel. Each has it's own benefits. I have a couple of ipods for portability. But since I started building or modding my own speakers, my musical tastes have expanded. To each his own on the format you choose and for whatever reason. There is no wrong as to your personal choice. I think some have forgotten that. It's a matter of your personal choice. No argument there Douggie, but most people simply can't afford that sort of gear or have different priorities in life. A mate of mine has Electrocompeniet amps and pre-amp, B&W Nautlius 802 speakers and a Meridian CD player (couldn't justify the cost different to an EC CD player) and a decent turntable. The sounds is brilliant and to be honest, I hate hearing it because it is sooo much better than what I have. But it cost about $40,000, which buys me a new car and a lot of RC boat gear. And of course, you need to sit down to enjoy it.
Other people want to enjoy music, but don't want to shell out big bucks, or might not be able to simply sit and listen to it. So they make do with lower quality gear, or something portable. The main thing is that they're listening to music and enjoying it.Comment

But I sure am! Tommy wrote, and recorded his first song at 13, and while you might think he was just pop, or bubble gum, and LONG before the trippy psychedelics of the early Pink Floyd albums he did a little experimenting, and
I confess, back then, I did a little experimenting of my own. Click on Cellophane Symphony, put on your head phones, and turn it up. Go on, I triple dog dare ya!
Now I know what you're thinking, WOW, that was Tommy James and the Shondells? Yeah, I know, had to listen a couple times myself, ya know, just for old times sake. Almost had a flash-back, and I coulda tripped out easy, but, ALAS, I've changed my ways.

one of my favourite pieces of music....though as Dom has stated I follow his interests in most music. I am fortunate that I had the cash to build two seperate systems for an audio and surround sound...just enjoy MUSIC and go out and listen to it live as no home system can rival that experience unless it is Madonna or Lady Honk or others. I will be turning off the TV at half time and enjoy some quality time with my grand children.
And this the one that got me hooked to music, my mother played this on an ancient phonograph system when I was 6 years old.
And this is truly a beauty.
