Some were de tongued & some weren't.
One guy, on a test day, after running a setup & prop that was thought to be the optimum for heat & battery usage in the races for the previous few meetings, tried a bigger prop. Temps were down slightly, & a bit more left in the pack.. And the boat was faster. Other variables could obviously come into play. But the boat was just 'flying' better so the drag factor was reduced. Results were repeated on a couple of boats.
See the danger. THEN DO IT ANYWAY!!!

I never tried it as a stock prop so I can't really say.
But I have seen boats run bigger & higher pitched props, than what was thought to be the optimum, resulting in faster boats, with less heat on the electrics, & more capacity left in the pack after the race, because the boat just "FLIES" better.
Just give it a try, & monitor the temps & battery usage.
Paul, as usual, thank you very much!!
Too many boats, not enough time...

Ray I finally took some pics of that Y547, don't know if you can see what you want to see or not but here they are. DSC02350.jpgDSC02355.jpgDSC02356.jpgDSC02357.jpgDSC02359.jpg

Looks good, I've got one started that looks close. I might send some props to Dasboata if my hands aren't up to it. I always find it difficult to match blade shape. Hard to make a cardboard cut out and plasticine sorta works o.k.

          Pics are great thanks.

Modeling clay works best, I usually do my own props but he had the Y547 in stock.

Y and X are different blade profiles the 547 is more pitch than the 447.

Quick question. Has any one tried the Carbon Fiber hull Popeye as yet?

Got to run the Popeye again with the Y547. Mine isn't de-tongued. Temp was cool. 102 on the motor and ESC. 98 on the battery.
Removed all the extra weight I put in the tips of sponson, I need to adjust the strut, didn't have the right size tools ( forgot).
                          Noticeably faster than the X447/3.
Sorry about the bad driving, this is a new part of the pond and I was not too familiar with the water.

Note to Doby: your under the lake for a week , then burned and ran over in the parking lot MR200 receiver works flawlessly.

Thanks, Paul, I got the prop when I read that you are using it , I wasn't familiar with the Y-series at all. I will do some adjustments and post back!
