Hahaha... Thanks, Doby... I was actually only interested in the measurements from a design curiousity. I could give a rip is it was legal or not. I just try to get measurements from all of the boats out there so I can see how what I'm goind "measures up". :)

Good brekky reading. The Dihedral isn't too easy to measure since the sponsons have two angles. What to do? Add the two or subtract the two???Attached Files

It's not unusual for a manufacturer to provide the OVERALL length, which includes the hardware, etc. Always a good idea to check.
It looks to me like the whole boat meets the "requirement"... It's good to measure and make sure, so THANK YOU for doing that, Doby.Originally posted by DobyMy interpretation would be that it meets this requirement.
As I said, I was just interested in the Dimensions for the design curiosity aspect of things.
It's great that there is another viable option out there to get people into the game. Plenty of room for others, that's for sure!!Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Ray,
The "Dihedral" angle is the actual ride-surface... the other angle would be the "non-trip" area.
To measure it is actually pretty easy. I usually take a picture from the back, then use a Protractor on the picture (printed out or ???) and that's usually close enough.
If you need it more precisely, there are some measurements you can to using the ATAN (Arc Tangent) Trig calculation that can give you the precise angle (well, as precisely as you can mesure a couple of distances), but that's not necessary here. I was just wondering.
AoA can be mesured the same way, though with that (more important to me), I usually use the ATAN calculation to get it exactly.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Hi Darin:
I'll gladly give you the other measurements you asked for...just tell me how to measure them.
Or, at the 2014 Nats, you can have your way with one of my hulls and measure to your hearts content....bring out out calipers, slide rule, portable CMM, atomic clock, calculator watch, abacus...what ever you need.
I totally get you curiosity as you do design work for PB.
Is there some sort of "master list" of all "legal" hulls out there somewhere...or does everyone just assume that theirs is OK?Grand River Marine Modellers

No master list that I know of... Just the rules. And, like we saw with the 1st Gen PT Stealth 30, sometimes people DO assume they are legal (PT Stealth 30 transom width at the bottom of the transom didn't meet the width requirement).
It would be nice if they updated the rules just a tad to provide more clarity on the measurements.
Looking forward to seeing these boats in person.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

The only real uproar of the rules for sport hydroplane that I can recall happened back in 2005 or 06 in MI Nats. I think there was one gent that had a vintage scale hydroplane that was considered a sport hydroplane but by the numbers it was closer to a rigger. That and the vented H&M hulls that most people gave up on.
Small chance in hell but, if I were to place in the top 3 in 2014 for LSH, my PTSS is illegal as per NAMBA. Not like I care about records but, if I were to place (snowball in hell) I'd like a trophy for my efforts.
I don't have a problem modifying my hull. I just need to know ahead of time. Even though Terry said don't worry about it, I don't want to put anyone off. The only thing that hurts a tad is the loss of $100 worth of paint

ran the popeye today with the new1515 2200kv motor m545 and blew it over twice....cg is too far back with a dinogy 5000 battery second run I raised the strut a 1/16 or so...and it ran faster but nose high ...next time out I will put battery sideways up front and put cg a inch farther forward....and see what that does.....I like it so far just needs to be trimed up some
having some trouble moving the cg forward...batteries sideways or straight forward no change in cg,,any suggestions? probably have to put a bit of neg in strutLast edited by ron1950; 10-25-2013, 09:18 PM.MY RETIREMENT PLAN?????.....POWERBALL

Ron... if it's blowing over, you should be running the strut lower, not higher... The closer the strut is to the tunnel, the higher the nose is going to ride (because the tail is running lower...)ran the popeye today with the new1515 2200kv motor m545 and blew it over twice....cg is too far back with a dinogy 5000 battery second run I raised the strut a 1/16 or so...and it ran faster but nose high ...next time out I will put battery sideways up front and put cg a inch farther forward....and see what that does.....I like it so far just needs to be trimed up someDarin E. Are you running 2P if not can you try? In P-sport I'd be running 2P but, that's me.

I figured it's large enough for 2P. Did yours com with motor mount in? The rtr seem like the motor is way back more than I'd want.
