I used a #60 grit sandpaper (i think) on the tube as well as the hull...I prefer rougher surfaces to JB weld onto. If you look at the P-Spec thread...somewhere around the begining is a pic of the JB weld area I used.

That looks great! Hopefully I will do a semi decent job.

Funny my tube has a layer of FG cloth on top, think may be I will sand/rough up a bit a put a dab of JB around just in case. (inside I mean)

I am glad you are getting yours finally, I have yet to find the person at my locap P.Office who handles the damage claim, my branch has been down sizing, it has only one person serving and a roll of automated machines, another Postal Worker stands by the machine and is trying to convince everybody to use them. If no one is using, this worker just simply stands there and does nothing to help the line. BTW, my local P.O. is not a small one, not all is well...

Well I did have a notice in the mail box this evening, so mine is here! I gotta go pick it up @ the post office in the morning, I can't believe it's finally here. I hope it's not smashed after two trips across the pond. And I didn't learn my lesson the first time, I got another boat coming from TFL. If it hadn't been for Monica I probably wouldn't have ordered from them again but she did everything she could short of getting on a plane and delivering it herself, I hope they realize what a great employee they have!

Well went to the post office this morning and picked up my Popeye, believe it or not after two trips back and forth across the pond it was mostly unscathed The only thing that happened is the hatch came untaped and scratched the deck a little but I think 90% of that will polish out with some light compound and wax. I'm gonna start putting it together tonight Neu 1515 1Y, 220 Swordfish Data logger, Savox SW-0231MG Waterproof servo and all Can't wait to get this one in the water after waiting so long for it to get here!

Finally got time to go to USPS to file damage report, took 4 hours, there was only one person working, line was long, after one hour the person they "paged" was not even working at that location, sent me to another location, had all the documents plus photos I took, no dice, they want to see the actual box and the boat, drove home, go back, wait in line, their Xerox machine broke...

You are right, Monica@TFL is great throughout this ordeal. So I am still happy with my PopEYe, I have done more, will post some pictures later.

I just want to report my "progress", I know it's not a personal "build thread" so please bear with the pictures. I thought the stock water line is a bit on the small side and the thru hull fitting pinches the tube , I had the idea of using a 3/16" brass tube to go thru the fitting and bend it in such a way that it will be neat inside the hull.

I have not applied JB Weld around the stuffing tube exit since I don't know if I need to adjust the angle or even having the need to pull out the tube, right now it is lined up perfectly though.
This is the damage the hull sustained during transport:DSCN4546_4872.jpg, it was mainly the gel coat but the spot was weakened and you can see the FG buckling under pressure, I"triple" glassed the spot and gave the entire hull a layer of FG cloth, only place I can't get is under the motor mount and the battery tray. Probably unnecessary but it makes me feel better and makes up for the mental disorder that I have about things not being in perfect shape.

Doby, thanks for introducing the PopEye, looking forward to run this hydro although I am headed for a busy spell the next two weeks, but will report back.

Do not run it without JB Welding first...it does not affect the potential strut adjustment..The factory tube is decent quality and shouldn't have to be removed for any foreseeable reason...but the factory fiberglassing of the tube will let go with the slightest movement.

Mine let go while I was messing around with the strut on my workbench.
