Jesse, your 2 pounds worth of parts went out today priotiy mail to the CO address you gave me.

Check it when you get it and make sure it is everything you ordered.

Yes, those strut brackets are nice. They fit the smaller bearing strut strut best but one can make other struts fit as well if strut blade is a little too thick.

Jesse if he's the man why didn't he tell me I needed the 2" bracket

When he looked at my pictures of my vegas.....isn't the drive dog supposed to end up even with the leading edge of the rudder?
Now I have to pay for shipping again

Also the narrow brass end of the strut won't fit in my stuffing tube or vice versa

Can't comment on why he didn't tell you, wasn't there, maybe you didn't ask?

I can say you should go wire drive in that puppy. Yes drive dog=LE of rudder and wire drive allows you to go much smaller stuffing tube - 5/32" or less depending on the wire. Also prevent water siphoning trick the flex drives like to do. also more reliable and tougher.

            Jesse

I all ready received the bearing strut the .078 wire dive and the drive dog.......asked him what I needed by looking at my pictures in the miss vegas sale thread......as far as asking him what I needed I even asked for his phone number so we could discuss what I needed be cause this crap always happens when a newb like me is trying to buy the propped parts.......he also new my stuffing tube was large and he said it would be ok

All could have been avoided over the phone

Dang, that sucks. So all you need is a bracket? and that one on his site won't work? Surprising that he would have missed that detail. I thought the struts were compatible with the bracket? I just looked at them and the struts look pretty thick, whereas the bracket is probably too narrow. Sorry, thought that was your answer.

I really think that 2" bracket will work but the. Problem is bigger than that

#1 how do I match the brass end of the strutt to my 3/16 I.d. Stuffing tube
#2 will the .078 wire drive run in my 3/16 stuffing tube being that loose

Someone please jump in this thread that knows the fix

Personally, I would replace the stuffing tube. It's a messy process with the dremmel, but its just dust. then set your 5/32" K&S with correct bend and JB weld it in place. This will solve both your problems above. You simply make the stuffing long enough to slip inside the front of the strut and then add your shrink wrap and wallah, happy camper.

You might be ok with your wire drive in the 3/16" tube, but you wouldn't solve problem #1.

J what is the measurement from the bottom of the hull at the transome to the top of the stuffing tube

line 1: no tephlon you are going to grease the snot out of that tuber

line 2: that is a matter of trial and error. You want to have your tuber exit the hull far enough forward that you can bend it up or down or even give it a slight bow so you can have your strut angled for bow down. This set up here is pretty well dialed.

See if these pics help. pm me your email and I can send you some plans that will help you get a good starting point. These pics are from my 22" hydro and it is about 1/2" from the hull, my 29" er is a tad lower but he is also a bigger boy.

I can send you plans for both, they are freely distributed on the web.
