Bad news! Box arrived yesterday beat to hell and the hydro is damaged. The left sponson tip is smashed and the seam on the outside and inside is split open. there is a crack on the inside of the sponson that run down and underneath to the bottom surface. The top hatch was bent and has stress cracks though the gelcoat.
Did you have insurance on this packeage? If so there need to be a claim filed if not we need to find a resolution. I am not happy with paying for a damaged vortex. I belive the boat was not packed properly and that the box was insufficent in stength and size for this boat. Shredded newsprint is a poor material to protect a boat. I have uploaded pictures of all the damage."Discussion is an exchange of knowledge; an argument, an exchange of ignorance." Robert QuillenComment

Man I really liked that white one too... Whenever I box something up I always shake the h-e-double hockey sticks out of the box and make sure I hear NOTHING moving. Otherwise I know that whoever handles the package will do damage worse than my shaking. Shreaded newspaper? Anything can move around in that.Comment

Sorry to hear that the boat got damaged But the boat was wrapped in Bubble wrap and had scrunched up news paper in the corners of the box, there was no shreded paper. The Box is the Box that steven Valcaro sent the boat in and the box was in perfect condition when sent and it wasnt rattling around inside. also it did have a fragile label on it and it was obvously was missed handled in the post.i have been in my local post office and they said to make the claim at your end. You will have to take the damage boat and the box to your post office and fill out a damage goods claim.
Terrible to see the damage on the boat in the photos.Comment

You sayin you shipped a boat over seas with no insurance? I don't like the sound of this: you say bubble wrap he says shredded paper-who is not being accurate? If you intend to sell more goods on this forum you might want to make a little more effort to right the situation......"Look good doin' it"

Hummm...... a picture is worth a thousand words so I will admit that I was inaccurate about the shredded paper, it was wadded up instead (anger was talking and memory not spot on) As for "But the boat was wrapped in Bubble wrap" not possible with 2 sheets 12" x 12" to cover a 24" hull! see attached pictures.
went to the post office...........now I know why they go postal!
I need to know, did you insure it? and how much if so so I can finish filling out the claim form.
This sucks!

man that looks like a poor excuse for a dog bed. I think the seller should share responsibility in these cases, especially when the packing job is this bad. I pack mine better when I am transporting them in my own car just to go out of state, let alone ship overseas!

Hydro111,
I think it's time to be a man and accept some responsibility here. The least you could do is offer up a partial refund for the damaged goods. The right thing to do would be to accept the boat back and refund his money. You'd be able to recover some of the loss by parting the boat out.
Here are a few tips for proper packing...
- Use a box strong enough to support the weight of the contents
- Use at least two inches of appropriate cushioning material to protect items from each other and the corners, sides, top, and bottom of the box
- Reinforce package edges to protect from bending
- Securely seal package closures and seams with reinforced tape
I have a little more to say on this matter, but it is in your PM inbox.
Thank you Hydro111,
