I took the time this evening. Figured you could be the Guinea Pig for my first attempt to reinforce one of these by vacuum bagging it... should be set up by morning.

      Super Cool

Did you know that if you pick a Guinea Pig up by it's tail it's eyes will fall out.

      Thanks again

Yikes! Hahaha. Not to worry. I'm babysitting it carefully and it's turning out great.

Hey, Darin. Can we play the "I spy" game while you're watching the epoxy cure? LOL. Do you spy any spare hardware in your shop for a V2 Impulse 31? Spare, as in, anything for a black/red V2 Impulse 31 that you want to sell. I have turn fins and trim tabs and a hull, haha. Not even a canopy or canopy seal...seriously starting from scratch on this one.

Let me look and see what I might have... Most of my hardware is on a hull somewhere, and most of what I have laying around are the ones I may have taken off when they got bent/damaged in a racing or testing incident... But let me take a look.

Hatch reinforcing turned out great. It'll be fully set tonight. I need to clean-up the edges and it'll be ready to go back on the hull. Should hold up very well now... Definitely lighter than my previous one (See my Race Prep Thread: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...-Impulse-31-V2 ) which I didn't use the vacuum bagging on.

I'll hopefully have this packaged up tonight.

There is a TON of information in the Pro Boat section of this site concerning your questions. Maybe start here: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...-Impulse-31-V2

Might want to start with adding some floatation to the boat.

It sounds to me like you haven't gone through the steps to set-up the strut, etc. That thread above has information on how and where to set the strut correctly.

There are a LOT of things that need to all be done correctly to try to push a 31" (if you measure the keel, it's really only 29"...) hull into the 50mph range. It's impossible for me to try to tune your boat for you through a website, but I, and MANY others here, have provided loads of information in the appropriate sections here on OSE.com where you should be able to find what you are looking for.

              Basics are:
STRUT - Set strut height and angle - Pretty simple... .250" from the keel and FLAT... Use a setup board, don't eyeball it.
TRIM TABS - Mine are flat, parallel with the bottom of the boat. The right one may need to be SLIGHTLY angled down lower than the left. Add the "training wheels" shown in my pictures above.
RUDDER - Straight up and down
CG - Needs to be around 30% of the KEEL length... about 8.7" forward of the transom (not the overhang). I think you'll find that with two 7.4V packs, the back of the packs should be about 1" or so forward of the back of the battery tray. Not sure with two 11.1V packs... I don't run 6S in a boat like this.
PROP - A good basic starting point is the Grimracer or ABC 42x55. Properly sharpened and balanced, it will work well with stock power, even if you insist on running 6S.

Hopefully this helps. Go look through the Pro Boat section of this forum dedicated to the Impulse 31 and I'm sure you'll find MANY other pieces of info that can help.

Quick update. The reinforced hatch cover turned out GREAT. Hull is all wrapped up and safely packed into a shipping box.

I'll print postage tonight and get it to the UPS pickup tomorrow... or perhaps this afternoon, depending on how late I have to stay at work tonight. I'll PM you the tracking number when I have it.

                    You just gotta "love" UPS...

I package this boat up in a SOLID box... double thick ends, etc... wrapped in foam and packed tightly with packing, and they STILL manage to damage things... Sheesh...

Looks like they only got the rudder strut bracket, with is fairly simple to replace.

Taking care of the problem for Jeff, but this pisses me off. He paid for and deserved an undamaged boat!

Hey, newsflash UPS employee... you're making a good wage... TAKE SOME PRIDE in your workmanship! Your tossing people's "life energy" around!

Sorry, Jeff... We'll get you fixed up.

                      Jeff,

I shipped the new parts USPS Priority this morning (at 4:00am...)... Suppose to be 2-3 days shipping. Hopefully will arrive before the weekend!

Let me know when they get there and hopefully this will correct the damage.

I hope you didn't send Jeff your last rudder bracket, because I still need you to hook me up with the whole strut/rudder/mount hardware package. ;D

                        Thanks,
