I dig the esc in my 4x4 slash. I run 3s 25c 5000 mah and it works flawlessly. A little hot, but I added a fan. Now she's cool as can be, and waterproof!
Coming soon selling everything!

what a bunch of know it alls, read what is written some times instead of jumping up and down why it cant happen and if it does there gear is crap. chances are they were on the edge of running there gear,by using higher C rating batts was the final straw.
there not my cars i dont race them it was just a statment of what happened, i dont care why it happened i just made a point that it did, there is about 40-50 of these at the indoor offroad track and of the 4-5 that brought 40c packs blew there esc first runComment

its now in kit form, i could set it on fire and then post you the ashes, shouldn't be more than a couple dollars for postage and you can then keep your caravan any wareComment

the motor only draws what it needs
so sounds like the esc is not right for the motor.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

no people fail to see the point, jim said dont use 30c as they initial amps is to much for the esc he built, i said i have seen the same thing with rc cars.
now people jump in saying "well wrong setup, wrong esc etc"
the fact is most of the time higher C rating will not hurt
but in rare cases it does and thats what was pointed out.
how many of you had setups that ran on 20c and ran great, but when 30c came along that extra punch for the first lap or 2 was very noticeable
that is what we were referring to, nothing else, people didnt have to jump in with well you have a crap esc bla bla, jim was asked can he use those batts and he said no,gave a response why and people were not happy with what was said and made a big deal out of itComment

and point was, if an esc is going bad with different batteries, then that means the esc is not matched correctly to the motor.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

And then others are missing the point.
The difference between 25C and 30C is only 5C. This equates to an extra 25A discharge current on a 5000mAh pack. The voltage difference under load will roughly increase actual amp load up 5A for that particular setup.(30A ESC) When the battery is "fresh" as been mentioned the ESC is at its coolest temperature. In order to kill the ESC it must heat up to an excessive temperature.
So, if I use a 30C 5000pack I have failure on that ESC. Here are similar cases that will do the EXACT same thing.
25C 6000mAh pack will result in ESC failure
20C 8000mAh pack will result in ESC failure (more punch than a 30C 5000 pack)
20C 10 000mAh pack will result in ESC failure (More punch than a 30C 5000pack)
Using a prop 2-4mm larger in size will result in ESC failure
We have the largest ESC manufacture in North America recommending to run 2P packs which will result in more punch than a single 30C LiPo pack with the same mAh as one of those packs!!
I get several PM's per month from new boaters on another forum we are members of asking why my LiPo puffed? Why did my ESC puff? Why did my motor fail?
My point is I deal with many frustrated hobbyists who get in contact with me and are most likely on the verge of leaving the hobby afer expensive components have failed. It is my job to assist and make sure a simple change as above does not ruin someone's day and wallet.
Can you imagine if this was the case of SV27 setup? People running 30C 10 000mAh cells and a hot X445 prop. Good thing there is a little wiggle room for our new boaters.
I have a really nice thread stickied on RCU on proper boat setup and component selection for anyone that is interested. Some parts have also been taken and placed on here by a really nice member of OSE. Lots of excellent information out there.
Let keep the smoke in, and the smiles on
Happy Boating

I'm gonna say this one time and then not respond anymore. You guys can go wild with all your theories. The fact remains, and regardless of the reasons, 30C packs will blow our tenshock 30A esc's. Got it? At least we try to be honest with our customers!
I suggest you guys have hijacked this poor guy's thread enough. There is a thread about batteries on OSE. I think it would be more polite to take your conversation there. Just my opinion, no offense intended.Mini Cat Racing USA
