                there are many who run 14cells on this esc with no external bec and no issues.

                    I have also run 6S on the Proboat 45amp 4S ESC with AND without problems. Anything more than 4S / 14 cells probably SHOULD run an external rx pack or BEC, but then if you are running a mild set up, you will probably get away with it. However, if you forget and slap on a big prop or have some other unexpected issue to increase amperage, you could be sniffing toast and not the breakfast kind.
