Here are some pics of the whip 20 I am working on right now. Sponson mod, bottom side about done, Just need to add the top decking and custom top for the vacupic cowling. Mike
Whats the significance of that sponson mod? Hmm, I wasn't aware of it when I built mine...
I have a fresh built Whip 20 thats never seen water... lol
do a search on my name and you'll find pics...
Or if you're in the area, give me a call, if I'm around I'll gladly show u.
Looks great! That boat is being built for a friend of mine. I'm also interested in having you build one for ME. PM me with details, price, etc. What is the sponson mod?

Just thought I would chime in here. I built a whiplash. They are race hulls...no need for sponsons mods, really they run great built right from the box. The area you have cut out here, is how the hull is designed. the only mod I see is the angled, cuts at the beginning of the sponson step.
Actually even though the Whiplash is a race hull there are PLENTY of racers that did sponson mods to the hull to run better in race water at 60mph. Even Brian Blazer changed the sponson design on his gas hulls and they run a lot better in race water because of the mods.
Raydee, what you say is true. Your hull is fast, and mine runs fast as well. Both doing so with stock sponsons...was my point in making that statement. Unless you have changed them since last year. ?
No I haven't and you def correct they are fast stock. I have mine running in the 60's and its a rocket BUT with 4 or 5 other boats in the waterit will easily get out of shape fast...heck I have got it up and out of the water racing with one other boat and coming over his wake at 60 mph. I know Mr Truckpull did some sponson mods with his whip so it will be more stable at higher speeds. We all have to keep in mind that this hull was meant for a .21 nitro motor and nowhere near the speeds that we are runnning. Brian B. did a SAW record with this hull and if you ask him about sponson mods I am sure he will have a few for you.
You are correct that the hull doesn't need sponson mods to run fast but the mods def help when you are racing in choppy water. I do plan to build a Whip 40 and it will probably have the sponson mods on it when its done.
Ray, What are the mods truckpull did on his whip? I am also going to build a whip 40 this year. the 20 is great, but want more stability that comes with a bigger hull.
