Just a thought here, but it might be beneficial to promoting our swap meet if some of the ones with stuff to sell started listing some of it in the swap meet thread. It would give the shoppers a hint at what they might find there and would help keep it bumped up toward the top as the event gets closer.

That's a good idea. I have sold most of my boats but I will have:
Rudders, struts, shafts, props
A couple of riggers
POSSIBLY a new crackerbox hull. (if not sold before)
A bunch of Mini Cat Racing boats in various states such as hull only, hull with hardware, etc. etc. (mostly these are the Jollymotor Offshore boats that were discontinued)
A NEW Mini Cat Racing Samurai, complete
A USED Mini Car Racing Samurai
couple of feigao motors, Castle 1515-1Y motor NEW w/HRC water jacket, proboat motors,
Proboat esc's
Various water jackets
Trim tabs, spin fins,
Lots of couplers
NEW Swordfish 200 ESC
Program boxes
NEW Seaking 35A escs with program boxes
a large collection of ESC's. Some of them I can't remember what they are@! I do know they are good. I never put a bad one back in my esc drawer :-) They should go really cheap.
and so on and so on!!
I will know more after meeting a buyer this week who is interested in some of my stuff.
I will have a rediculous collection of goodies. Something for everybody!Mini Cat Racing USA

That is the great thing about WFMBC. When I and a couple of others formed the club a few years ago it was with the understanding that we would always help out new guys and be friendly to everyone. Scott and the other members have held up that tradition well. You won't find a better bunch ANYWHERE!

A couple of items- this one i know you guys have discussed before but what would it take to get a platform built under the guise of a "Senic Overlook" or is it even an option since its a park. If thats not an option how bout trying a section of scaffolding or a custom made platform? I have heard talk of a trailer as well. I know its a pain in the arm to setup but a we could work something out on a rotating schedule so the same folks dont end up doing all the work.. Just gotta be sure it is safe and will hold say 4 extremly muscular 250 lbs guys running boats.. Here i guess the spotters would have to stand on the ground. At Ackerman the bank is elevated, but im thinking that just a few feet would allow us to see the whole course and save some disintegrating bouys.
Also the spotter deal is a good thing. But we have to remember that eveyone has to have a spotter so we have make sure we don't bail out too early and leave the rest of the races uncovered.
Just my two cents...Last edited by megalops; 01-23-2012, 04:35 PM."If you can't win - Wreck someone who can!"Comment

No problem Brian and Bill on the helping out and advice.
As for your other comments bill, Spotters need to be next to drivers, not under them. They need to be able to be in clear communication without interupting other drivers. Our spotter idea is not ours, its a NAMBA rule. Weve talked about ways to elevate, but I dont see anything happening inthe near future. For now, we have to be happy w/ the level (height) we are at.Comment

I doubt the parks dept. would approve because it has to be handicapped accessible which means long ramps. Very expensive too. Another point is that the bank is further up off the water at Akerman than some sites are WITH a platform. Really not that great a need. Just my addition $.02 worth. We're up to 4 cents now! Wahoo.
totally agree! Its great to see some potential new new guys milling about as well. Its just a testimate that the FE sport seems to be on an upswing...

On the newsletter idea that was brought up in the swap meet thread... what I really wanted to say was just refer people to the website "unless" somebody else wants to volunteer to do one. I did the newsletter for MCRC back in the early days of that club but already have a pretty full plate here with keeping the website updated.
On the swap meet, have we bought our raffle tickets yet? Just don't want it to sneak up on us.Comment

An early heads up to all:
I apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause but I will be out of town from February 22rd thru the 27th so someone else will need to haul the rescue boat (weather permitting) to Ackerman on the 26th. Please let me know what y'all want to do and I'll make arrangements to get the club's boat to you before I hit the road. Or.. possibly Brian (RCKong) could bring his boat up with him.Comment
