Thanks for checking into it Scott. I figured as much. I'll let you know what I find out. I know the lady at Sarasota County said their goal is to provide all sorts of different recreation outlets for people visiting/vacationing in the area so they are all in favor of us. Refreshing attitude. I believe they would allow us to do some of the work ourselves like a driver stand (if wanted), etc. but not sure about the east side of the lake since they already have others using the lake. Let's get those steps in before we ruffle the water too much. OK?

I just sent an email to the Craigs list add for the 35W PA. Basically just asked if its still avail and where hes located in B-town. Ill let you know what the outcome is. Seems like a good deal as most of the same model on ebay etc are going for about $10. more plus shipping.Comment

I had this in mind for future planning as well concerning a drivers stand. Price and Storage would be the biggest issues, but I was thinking of ways to do it w/ out disturbing the park or leaving anything there that could be considered a "hazard" in the eyes of a D.A. so we cant get introuble for un-intelegent use of it while we are not present. What about a small to medium size flat bed trailer, and build a raised stand w/ stairs etc on it. It wouldnt be anywhere near as high as the one at the NATS, but could still get us 4' plus the height of the trailer so 5-6' higher than we currently stand. I can sketch up a few ideas I have. I see trailers go for decent prices out here all the time. I know, the funds arent even close, but it would be something to work towards and like I said, we wouldnt have to leave it there so there would be no hassle from the county.
Or, anyone have an 8 or 10' flatbed they dont use all the time. Id allow usage of mine but I use it twice a week (lawn trailer) and loading and un-loading it w/ drivers stand components would be difficult. I picked the trailer up for $350 and it is mint. (5x8)
Or we could just bring a ladder and climb on top of one of the pavillions...Comment

Great! Let us know!
Sounds like a plan.

Have you seen the drivers stands at the Tampa Club and Riverview Club? They are built onto the side of a 20' shipping container. The container doubles as a storage building for PA system, clock (if we can ever afford one), retrieve boat, etc.Not sure what a used container costs but worth looking at. With a trailer it would have to be hauled back and forth. If they'd let us use the container it would be better and we could paint it to look nice.

Id imagine that wouldnt be cheap. And would the county allow a storage conatainer at Ackerman? I love the idea though. Ive raced from the top of many and they are great.
I talked to the gentlman who owns the PA via telephone. He lives in the Palma Sola area. I will be out that way at my parents this evening so I will be stopping by to check it out. As long as its works and you feel its what we need, Ill grab it. I explained to him our usage and he said the 35 will be enough for what we need. I can tell you all you need to know about car audio, but PA systems Im not up to par about.Comment

I talked to the lady at Sarasota County. She said she would check on the status of the steps and let me know back. She was surprised the business manager hadn't contacted me yet about the insurance. I mentioned buoys on the east side of the lake and with subsurface attachments like you guys have mentioned, she had no problem with it.Mini Cat Racing USA

I checked on containers. DAMN! They have really gone up. I remember when they damn near gave 'em away but now they range from $1900-$2800! Guess that's out. The guy said the Chinese aren't building as many as they used to so the shipping lines are refurbishing them and not many available at all....thus the price increase.Mini Cat Racing USA

I have a 20' container set up for a drivers stand already, if we can get it there would be the trick. It would need fixed up a bit ( needs the deck fixed, it leaks, and a new ply wood floor and paint) but it has a window in it already. has a set of stairs too. I would be willing to donate it to the club. It's in N Ft Myers, and will fit on a flatbed tow truck.Comment

So is that Realistic PA what we are looking for? Im leaving in about 45 min and need to know if it is in fact what we are looking for I will grab it. After 530 I will only be avail via cell.Comment

EDIT: I read that wrong. You said it WILL fit on a flat bead. I read it as it wont. So, perhaps the next question for the county when the time is right is, would a nice cleaned up and freshly painted container be acceptable?Comment

That's a heck of an offer Brian! Surely we can find a way to move it. Winch it up onto a flat bed or something. Anybody know a two truck driver? ;-)
I would have to ask the county about permission. I'll call the gal in Sarasota tomorrow. The question is, do we set up on on the south end or the east side? I think they would frown on the east side because kids might get up on it. IT would be more secure on the south end?Mini Cat Racing USA

maybe a way we can present the storage container idea is to say we need it to run our boats and store fixtures in , and until we can have a structure, and or bathrooms, we can ask for permission to use it. We have one donated if we can put it on site. After all it's probably the only park in the co. without a pisser. I think I paid $65.00/mo for a portapisser a couple years back and that is certainly some thing we will have to address. After all we use the park regularly...Comment

I think the justification should be storage of the retrieve boat and fixtures. I wouldn't ask permission to use it as a bathroom. The health department wouldn't be in favor of that. and i wouldn't meet public safety requirements either.
Nuttin says we can put a small porta potti (camper/boat type) in there for our own use. Just have to fight over who gets to empty it. ;-)Mini Cat Racing USA
