Im not a member of either yet. Ive got to go and talk to the guys to figure out, other than my stock SV, what Im able to run and actually be competative with. Those guys have some great boats down there. I hope to become a member soon and start racing.Comment

Im new to this as well . I have 3 boats . A stock SV-27. A spec rigger & a opc or tunnel hull that im converting to FE . I hear the ul-1 is pretty good out of the box . Someone will post here & answer you ?.Comment

I think when the time comes I will just run my SV. It cheap, easy and if something does happen to it I wont cry.Ive only been a few times to spectate. Never brought anything to run. There were a couple guys the first time I went running some SVs, and that was the only time I saw them.

The UL-1 out of the box is a good starter boat. Nowhere near as squirrely as the SV27. It is fast enough to be competitive and a ball to drive. Can't beat the price if you join the Towerhobbies 'club' for $10 a year they will send you an email about once a month that lets you save $60 for orders over $300 and shipping is free. When I got my UL-1 it cost a total of $260 delivered to my door! When you want to move up to a different boat, you will have a great motor and speed controller out of the UL-1 to use in the "SPEC" classes.Mini Cat Racing USA

Took me a while to get around to it, but our group showed very well against the big guns on the east coast.. We brought some hardware home and had a great time trading paint with some of the most competive FE guys in the country. Thanks to Ray, Grumpy, Hugh, Jeff, and Jim for representing the west coast. WE may still be considered a fledging group, but the results speak for themselves. Other than the the eyeball stratigically placed on the beer bottle ( Jim) at Outback it was a great experience........Looking forward to the the Nats next year and lets keep pounding at Ackerman.
Sounds like you guy's are ready for round two?
We really enjoyed having you guys come race with us, we need to find a pond that we can use for one day races, so it's not an over nite stay for anyone ?
Maybe have 4 races a year?
How far is Melbourne for you guys, it's 1-2 hrs for us?
Any toughts?
