I thought you talked to him and he said if there were enough boats he would open the classes. I do think it would be a damned shame to not run OPC tunnels as it's the Herb Steward memorial race. If he only wants to allow three classes, then I vote we get rid of P mono.

He said we could look at 3 classes as long as we have several boats per class. The brandon club isn't going to schedule a ton of classes, they like to limit the number of heats. The tampa club likes to run more classes though
I don't have a problem with running OPC. I don't want to jump the gun assuming we can run 4 classes. I am trying to find out who can run, and what they would like to run. What ever classes we run, I want to make sure we have more than 3 boats in the class. I want to have a good representation.
I think LSH will get plenty of attention. It sounds like there are a few guys that want to run OPC. If there is a good turnout there, then make that another class. If P-mono is going to be light, maybe we let the p-mono and q-offhsore run together in the open class if that makes a good turnout. Or another spec class like the riggers or SV's can go in the open class.

Agree Jeff, but it was OPC that was added as the 4th class. The guy that runs rcracingevents brought it up that it would be a travesty to not run electric tunnel at the Herb memorial. I hope everybody comes through too! We have a club reaching out to us. THIS TIME we need to show up!

No one has made it official as to what 3 classes are going to be run. Thats why I said to wait before you pay and lets make sure we have the 3 best represented classes. If OPC, spec rigger, and LSH are the best ones to go with the lets do that. Or OPC, LSH, and open or what ever it doesn't matter. If Don says we can run 4 classes then fine. I will find out tonight how many boats we can run per heat as well.

            Jeff!
You kept laying these classes out there. LSH, P mono, and Open. OPC was added by Bill at rcracingevents. We know the first three are the classes our group runs the most and most likely are the classes that we'll end up with. Spec rigger wasn't put on the list. I know we discussed it a little but not sure if there are three of them available? I know some are still building/testing, including me.

I went ahead and paid because if you wait longer than 2 weeks before, the cost per class goes up. Guess I'm funny that way. I hate sitting around. I like to get things done. If I've wasted my $$$, so be it. We keep talking about running with the Brandon club. They've been most gracious in offering but we have yet to show up. It's time to get off the dime and do it!

Come on guys...let's step up to the plate on this one. It's the Herb Stewart memorial race. Let's honor Herb by running electrics that he was in love with.

I spoke with Don tonight. We will be able to run 3 classes. They took OPC off the registration list for now to get it back to 3 classes. We can run up to 8 boats per class. So now we need to decide what we want to run. If we want to run OPC then they will add it back to the list as one of the 3 classes.

Jim I suggested those classes becuase I thought that would bring the most entries, since most of us run those classes at our local meet.

I spoke with Herb's son Jeff this morning. He is going to get back with me a bit later today, but he has a pair of OPC's to run and an LSH. He is going to bring his son to run one of the OPC boats. So I would say we have 2 good classes so far now. What other class should we look into running? He may also have a couple more guys to race with us. I will keep you updated as soon as I know.

The event is 9/20 in Brandon Florida. Combined Nitro/Gas/Electric event. 200+ boats. One heat every 7 minutes. Phenomenal to watch the big Nitro club at work!

I'm out. Double-header in Clearwater. Good luck!
Boats don't win races, drivers do.

Great! Definitely LSH for me and hopefully OPC. Maybe the best third event would be the OPEN, running SV27, spec cats, etc. At least that would let more people participate (If they will).

P-Mono or P-Spec Hydro (Rigger). I vote for Riggers (mostly because Jeff always kicks my butt in P-Mono)!

Herb's son Jeff says his buddy might have a p-mono to run, but I am waiting to hear back from him to confirm. I would not be opposed to running and open spec class for v-bottoms and cats to run in, if that will get more participation. As far as p-mono or pspec rigger, which ever will have the most entries.
