Looking like it may be a little chilly Sunday morning since local news is calling for low 40's. The high is supposed to get to about 65 though. Not sure yet what the winds will be like but hoping for an improvement ovr last time.
Anyone in our group interested in my old DF41 hull & hardware? If so I'm willing to let it go for $150.00 with pickup at Ackerman. Includes hull, rudder, stinger, trim tabs, flex shaft and motor mount.
If interested let me know ahead of time and I'll bring it along.
I have a tunnel hull I need to sell if anyone is interested in building a spec tunnel. It is my old woodstuff based hull. It was built by Racer504 that build mike's whiplash. It will come with REK lower and adapter for electric use.
LOL I've asked myself that same question a few times. On the good side, this won't land you in jail.
Years and years ago, I was testing a gasser in a little pond by my parents house in NW Bradenton. Some crotchety old hag called the cops on me and asked me to leave. I was 16 or 17 at the time, "yes sir, Im sorry to be a disturbance, Ill be out of here in 5 minutes. 2004, Im testing another gasser in the pond behind (next to via road) Publix in Palmetto. I lived walking distance behind there so it was super convinient for a maiden run. Cops.. (3 cars) show up. Tell me to pack it up and get out or I will be arrested for tresspassing. No signs, no nothing. I went off on him, told him "why are you messing w/ me for trying to have some harmless fun when youve got crack houses 2 blocks down the road, drugs all over the place etc etc... I mentioned that 3 weeks prior, I witnessed a robery taking place and it took them 25 minutes to show up. 25!!! The fricken police station was 2 blocks from my house. He asked me to "shut my mouth, put my toy away and leave". No, I did not. Its BS. I went off more, he walked towards me w/ cuffs out. I told him to screw himself and leave me alone and do something important for the community, not run off someone whos not doing anything wrong. At that time, a Publix manager came out, thought the boat was the coolest thing he had ever seen and asked me to run it. I told him "numnuts Ociffer" said I cant. He laughed and ended up knowing the guy. Eventually the storm waters calmed and I left, still pissed off, but didnt get arrested for running an RC boat. So never say never William. Oh and about 6 weeks later, there were no trespassing signs about the retainage pond.
Most cops down here stop and watch when we are racing, they dig it. I ran the N. Trail Offroad track for almost 3 years. Alot of police, firemen, and paramedics and their kids raced with us alot.
I received an email today from a model boater from the Venice area. Here is his mail and my reply. Please jump in and post regarding scale and sail! I would love to see our club involved in those aspects of model boating as well as FE!
Emails:
I AM FROM THE VENICE AREA AND DO SCALE ELECT. SAIL AND OTHER BOATS AND
HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A GROUP TO SAIL WITH. I KNOW THE POND BUT DO KNOW
WHEN. COULD YOU HELP
RON THURSTON
Hi Ron,
We run on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month at the Akerman Park lake.
We don't have anyone sailing although some of us have sailboats. All of our
Running at Akerman is Fast Electrics. We would certainly love to see your
Scale boats and would absolutely allow time for you to run them. I think if
You came with your scales, others who have them may bring theirs. You could
Always go to the opposite end of the lake to run your sailboats. If I knew you
Were coming, I might bring one of my sailboats as well! Another possibility is
That fast electrics would run from 9 a.m. til 1 or 2 p.m. and then the afternoon
Would be for scale and sailing. What do you think?
I am going to post this on our forum on Offshore electrics to get other responses.
Do you go to the OSE site? You can find us here:
I look forward to meeting you. I won't be at Akerman this weekend but plan
To be there February 13th!
Thanks!
Jim

I'm hoping the current long range forecast is kind of accurate. http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/laun...=KSRQ&state=FL
Starts off pretty chilly at 37 around 7:00 am but very little wind. Calling for upper 50's and mild (compared to what we had last time) 8 mph ese by around 1:00
hi bill this richard i want to see if you can halp me .i just put a 1520 1600kv in my king of shave what is the best prop i can run it with
Depemds mostly on how many cells you want to hit it with. 6s I say somewhere in the neighborhood os a X640 or 642.
4s probably around a 450 or 455 but I'm just a guessin myself. The X640 works really well in my Genesis and Neu 1521 (1577kv) on 6s but it's a cat instead of a V.
