NEW Florida Fast Electric Club

The group looked at the potential lake on Sunday and all seemed to approve. I went to the County office today to pick up an agreement. Still thinking about a club name so we can get our charter. Have to do that before we can do the paperwork with the County.
AMPBUSTERS
Suncoast Area Fast Electrics SAFE
West Florida Model Boat Club (makes it sound more inclusive for scale and sailors but would encourage nitro and gas which we will NOT be able to run on the lake due to closeby houses.)
If we didn't race we could be scales and sails! haha.
Any more ideas?
The first two are the front runners. But then there's Mikes TITS club too.

progress on boat club
We are moving forward with West Florida Model Boat Club with the Nickname AQUAMANIACS. First step is to get Florida non-profit status. No problem. Next step will be to do a "friends of the park" agreement with the county for use of the lake. With luck, this process should take no more than 3 months.
We will need a lot of members to be able to share the grunt work and funds to prepare the lake site.
We are welcoming all model boaters EXCEPT nitro and gas. Sorry guys, but this lake is smack dab up against housing and we wouldn't last ten minutes on the lake. So we are looking for potential members that participate in:
Electric scale
sailing
Fast Electric
anything else that floats and doesn't make much noise!
We want this to be an all inclusive club for different types of boats, etc.
If you know of someone in the Tampa Bay area that is involved in these types of model boating, have him contact us. They or you can PM me here and we will give them email and phone info!
Now we need a cool logo for AQUAMANIACS. Anyone? I'll be working on it but need more ideas.Mini Cat Racing USA

ATTN: Our Group
An email was sent to each of you saying you need to pony up some $$$ to pay for the non-profit application, NAMBA application, etc.
It's not fair for two or three of us to bear all this cost. It's also another way to determine if you're serious.
So far ONE, that's right 1 of you has sent a check. THANKS Kfoss1!
Should we move forward? or not?Mini Cat Racing USA

Hmm, posted an aerial view of the lake with a 1/6 mile course layed out on it but it disappeared. Trying again. Thanks to RayR for the pic!Attached FilesMini Cat Racing USA

I have no running boats or time right now
so don't hold anything up on my account
finances and the time of the year have me calling it quits for a whileThe Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.Comment

I think we could join Rod's club and have our own electric races. The deal would be that they would assist with our races and we would assist with their nitro/gas races. It would take a lot of dedication on the part of our guys to show up and fullfill that part of the bargain. For some reason, I'm not sure that would happen considering the response we're having right now. The cost for each of us would not be any less than if we formed our own club.
Problem is, the Riverview lake is only available 3 days a week for tuning, practice, etc. and rightfully the nitro and gas boys will be utilizing it on those days. It's also a long danged way for most of us to drive. The site in Pasco is a lot closer for most of us and would give us a dedicated site available 7 days a week and would be electric only. Further, the Pasco lake is more protected and much less likely to be rough in windy weather. In my opinion, the Pasco lake would be more desirable. I'm not hung up on having our own exclusive club by any means and Rod is being very gracious. That is most appreciated!
Unfortunately, it's beginning to look like we don't have a lot of interest in a club from some of our guys...they just want to play with their boats. There may come a day that we can't run where we do now (only one day a month) and then we'll be searching again. The opportunity to get the Pasco lake is here NOW. If we don't grab it soon, it may go bye-bye also.

I don't think the pasco lake is closer to most of us, If you look where our group tends to come from. For me personally its the same time/distance to either lake. however, for guys like Hugh, and Ray it would be closer to them. Since we only get together once a month, I would think we could work out something with the Tampa club to give us access to the lake once a month.Comment

Jeff, what you say is valid but what would be the point? I for one am not content to run once a month. That's why I think we need our own lake and one that isn't so rough. If you can find a lake closer to the middle for all of us then please do. I'll do whatever I can to help. Lakes are really hard to find. Look how long it took the Tampa Club to find another one.
We have an opportunity to get our own place but if there are not enough of you that want to do it, please tell me so I can stop beating my brains out over it.
