Nice test and tune today. It was a little warm and humid but the front pushed through. The breeze picked up but allot of people got runs in.
I got the Insane mono in the water. It was a little loose but I've got her settled down a bit and we'll see how she does tomorrow. Kents boats are dialed in pretty well. Don's JAE got wet for the first time and ......well, it's a JAE so you know how it ran. Dick and Carl spent most of the day running IC boats. Our new FE'ers Brian and Tommy ran thier RTR's. The Spartan is an inpressive running boat..
Wish us luck!!!!Last edited by Chilli; 06-27-2011, 11:56 AM.Mike Chirillo

We'll it was a great weekend. We tripled our FE participation over last years race. The weather was pretty nice and we all enjoyed great racing and spending time with friends . My big news for the weekend is Kent Seal had an outstanding weekend and took home his first, first place finish in B/P-spec tunnel. Congratulations my brother. Kent ran every class he could, getting as much heat racing practice as possible and it's starting to pay off. Keep up the good work!!! I believe Dick Loeb took home first in FE Open Mono with his Cyberstorm. Someone must of put magnets in all of Dicks boats because it seemed like everyone wanted a piece of him this weekend. Dick kept his cool for the most part and was successful at keeping most of his boats healthy for our trip to D13 next month. Our two nitro guru converts Don Ferrette and Carl Cisneros had a tough weekend running FE classes for the first time. Don battled electrical gremlins with his Spec JAE and Carl popped the lid on his big Insane mono and blew two T180's when they got wet. These guys don't quit easliy and I'm sure they'll be back and ready to play next race. We had two new FE racers with us. Tommy and Brian raced with us. Brian took some wood home with a boat he put together a few days before the race. He did a great job and we hope to see him race with us regulaterly. Pete came down from the eastern shore Saturday and Sunday and I'm pretty sure he's chomping at the bit waiting to race with us.
As for me, I had a pretty good weekend. My Insane mono hit the water for the first time. We soon discovered this boat needs big turn fins in race water or it's a handfull in the turns. Thanks to my gas guru's from Richmond for helping me get the boat running pretty good by the end of the weekend. I ran the boat in Open FE mono and won the last heat by a pretty good margin though I think Kent was laying back taking it easy. My Insane FE30 continues to be Mr Reliable taking second for the third time this season running with nitro and FE riggers. I have run twelve heats with that boat this year with no DNF's. As usualy I had fun with my gas Sniper running Stock Gas and Open Offshore. I did win a Stock Gas heat and thats always fun considering the quality of the competition. I was all over the place on the offshore course most of the weekend but settled and nailed a nice run in the final heat. I ended up taking two seconds and a third in four classes for the weekend. I also got to CD a dozen classes for the first time and that was allot of fun. Unfortunately I had to DQ my club president. My son John took his VS1 to a third place finish in a crowded B/P-spec tunnel field so he was a happy camper.
Thats all folks. I sure I'm missed a few things so chime in and toot your horns!!
I want to thank all the raffle sponsors. The FE sponsors were most generous. I would like Carl to list them when he gets a chance. I don't want to forget anyone.
Thanks again to Joe Yang for use of his trailer and helping a very tired crew break down the drivers stand. Carl did a great job with the entries and we stayed right on schedule Saturday and Sunday!! Tracy busted his butt all weekend CDing most of the heats and running the retrieval boat allot while me and Robin work on our boats. Great team effort!
Thanks to all the came. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!!
I'm Beat!!!Attached FilesLast edited by Chilli; 06-27-2011, 12:04 PM.Mike Chirillo

She also got a 3rd in B SPORT Tunnel there was 8 very good running boats in that class,an last but not least she showed the the big boys in open Tunnel the way for 3 laps with her pure stock 7.5 until it leaned out an stopped.( 3rd place over all) .The last thing a BIG thank you to all the CAPITAL club gang(Chilli, Carl, Tracy, Robin, and anyone else not noted) thanks for a great weekend !!! Had a great time, hat's off to the Capitol crew for a job well done. Four full rounds of racing and we were outta there by 2:30 on Sunday.
The ESC from my brand new P-Spec JAE is already boxed up and on the way back to Tower and the replacement as well as the motor will get bigger bullets when I put the little rigger back together. The boat itself ran great, just need to kick out the electron gremlins and we'll be good to go as nothing is worse than having a 3/4 lap lead with one to go only to watch the boat grind to a halt.- IMPBA Hall of Fame -

I had a blast this past weekend! Thanks very much to the whole Capitol Club for all of thier hard work to make it all happen smoothly! What a great bunch of guys!! William Whetstone (WW29) gave the club two of his Top Speed tunnels to raffle off AND gave one of his RTR Hydros to Tracy Dolphin's son! What a good hearted soul! Also would like to thank him for being my pitman so many times and for keeping me calm and collected during the heats...same goes for Carol Loeb and James Beasley...Thanks so much!
Also would like to thank Doug Smock for helping me along the way with my Rico Mono build (and the Smock Prop he sent me)! Don Ferrette you are the man for getting that new servo working in that boat....Steve Speas, Steve Sutton and Dick Tyndall are all a great bunch of guys and I feel VERY lucky to be able to get their advice with things as well!
Great weekend with my bro Chilli and his son, John ("Rocky")...they are my boyZ!! Congratz to you both as well for your awards (John is getting good now). That Insane FE 30 that Chilli has is very nice and runs really well (I want one!) Great seeing Pete Welty and his Bro stop by on Sat AND Sun. I think Pete took around 400 pics on Sat alone!!! Holy Sh*%! Can't wait to see some of them!

Sorry about the mix up Kent. Ive got to start bringing pencil and paper to awards. No wonder you were just cruising on the final Open FE mono heat. Now that we're both close to being dialed in, it's going to be "game on" next race.
Next up: Chilli, Rocky and the Loebs head down to Atlanta in three weeks for the D13 Grand Prix Series "2011 Smock Smack Down". Our secret weapon.... Carol will leave a big plate of cookies next to the drivers stand.Mike Chirillo
