Check all the screws on the rudder assembly, some of them were loose on mine, just check all screws. I have only ran mine twice, i keep getting water inside, i think its coming through the flex shaft so i got some grim racer speed grease see if that helps. Other than that ots a nice hull, its all about how you set it up. What esc are you running in yours?
I greased the flex shaft before the first run and I got about 7 runs before i started getting water in the hull from the stuffing tube, completly dry on every run before that. The temps went WAY up because of the additional friction with water being in the tube. Upon disassembly, it was completly void of any grease, and filled with water.
But i did hit 42.9 mph on 4S !Comment

That pin your talking about, it has a small set screw that holds it in place, mine didn't even have the set screw!... and of the 4 screws that attach the rudder/strut assembly to the boat 3 of them were way loose... Geetting a small socket in there to tighten those was a pain in the rear!
I'm having issues with all my grease coming out way to fast... its oozing out where the stuffing tube meets the strut... I wonder if I should seal this area?LST XXL-4074 Taco, Slash 4x4-3660 Taco, Appparition-3674 TacoComment

AND... The magic smoke has been let out...
Luckily it was the cheap motor and not the ESC.
Not sure what happened, about 3 minutes into the first run of the day, boat slowed way up, like the batteries were done, then it just stopped. Opening up the hatch literally "let the magic smoke out". A very rancid smoke at that. As I was disassembling the motor, there was no magnetic field left, and the winds looked like they were covered in melted chocolate. Pretty nasty stuff... Going to throw my UL-1 2030 kV motor in it and see what she does.Comment

So the UL- 1 motor was a success.
4S - 47.5 Mph
5S - 54.8 Mph
Still with the Grim Racer 42x55 prop.
I was able to walk away from the Miss Geico at will. Boat was very stable, and still very controllable even at 50+ mph.
Very happy with this setup. The UL-1 ESC is NOT meant to anything over 4S, so i only did a few passes on 5S. Temps stayed in the 120's.
The stock bearings in the UL-1 motor were a little rough, so I replaced them with full ceramic bearings from Avid Bearing. I'm sure that was all the difference.Comment
