    Hobby King Apparition

My buddies new Hobby King Apparition. This is the second run with the Grim racer 42x55 prop. The boat is running on 4s on the stock 1620KV motor and keeps with my mildly modded miss geico that runs consistant 43+mph.

Nice. I'm still getting the kinks worked out in my apparition, but already upgraded the motor to 1900 kv and currently balancing a x442 prop. In the limited run time I have had I really like the boat.

          Penz,
Have you had any issues with your boat? This was only the second run we have had on this Apparition and would like to catch any potential problems before they become an issue.

Check all the screws on the rudder assembly, some of them were loose on mine, just check all screws. I have only ran mine twice, i keep getting water inside, i think its coming through the flex shaft so i got some grim racer speed grease see if that helps. Other than that ots a nice hull, its all about how you set it up. What esc are you running in yours?

So only two runs on this one as well. Havent gotten any water in the boat at all but we greased the flex shaft before the first run. Its my buddies boat and he had an aquacraft 60 amp esc out of his other boat that he dropped in. So far its working and temps not to high, we will keep running it till we let the magic smoke out of it.

Haha the magic smoke... I'm running a hk 125 amp, its getting up to around 125 degrees... not sure how long it going to hold up. Looking at the hobbywing seaking 180 next possibly. If temps are good with the x442 ill try a x640. I should have some more vids up possibly later this week.

I honestly dont think that 125 is that hot, the aquacraft esc runs at about the same temp. I fly an electric ducted fan jet with a castle ice 100 in it. I consistantly run over 150 degrees and have even seen log data of 170. I called castle and they said that thermal protection doesnt even kick in till 200+. So at 125 on an ESC im pretty happy with that. Althought im sure we could find a prop or throw 5s in there and speed along the process of melting down the esc.

Yeah 125 not too bad, but this is a $30 esc I'm using... my motor is running at 105 degrees with a 42mm prop so it can handle more, just not sure if the esc can. One way to find out... I'm just worried about my boat going up in flames... so if it does eventually fail or I give in and upgrade I think the seaking 180 is next, if it fits that is.

Yea I think a seaking 180 is a good choice. I actually think that my buddy may order one for this boat to be on the safe side.

Man you beat me to posting a link to my own video!!
The Miss Geico is going 42.0mph according to the gps and the fastest I have recorded with this setup is 43.2mph. We didnt get a top speed reading on the Apparition today as the GPS didnt work properly in the boat, will try and get one tomorrow.
