In spite of Matt's optimism about the Kb45, I have my doubts about durability. Maybe I just got a good example through simple luck... It was still a little hotter than I would like to see, so who knows how long the magnets will last. Everything else seems nice & cool.

Speed looks to be about 80 kph by my judgement. Other props to try yet, although I tend to be a little conservative.

Maybe a Leopard 5692 motor from Steve will be a possibility in due course, when he gets them in??? - Put me down for one Steve - unless the NEUs turn up !!!!

The 17xl I have seems to be holding up very well. Its not a nue but definately a good choice for sport runner but look. You could buy 6 for 1 nue . Nevertheless a great show of what a kb can do. Thats a pretty heavy scale too so its very impressive. Imagine in a scale 10 pounds or less.Great job chuff. Do you have a thermostat on your cooling system?Or a way to regulate the flow? Have you put cooling vents in the can like the 3-600 dollar motors the kbs keep getting compared to?Comparing them against a nue really isnt fair how about a 580l no doubt. The kb has to be one of the best choices for 44.00 dollars out there. If you get any more out of it let us see some more footage please.Great runs sir.

Here are two views of Llumar with the Nue motor fitted, with Pringles similarly equiped. Pringles is in the water for the first time as electric, although it is an old hull.

This is the future of 1/8th Scales guys-
No mess, no blown plugs, no needle adjustment, no noise (well....) - just "plug 'er in and play"...

Filmed at Hamilton Lake in New Zealand as a demo before our Scale Unlimited Hydro Association (SUHA) Regatta

filmed early in the morning - hence the odd colours and contrast.

I've seen these KB45 motors push heavy (25lbs) Baja 5B buggies on 8s like nothing, and doing 50-60mph

For the price they are good sport motors but i have to admit with the neu it looks faster.Doesnt mean i wouldnt be satisfied . Id like to see the kb run in a boat not set up so loose.

Sorry Mike, I see I never replied to you.

The two video clips of the run with Pringles, both with the Neu motors, still had a X646 3 blade fitted to Llumar. A couple of more recent test runs with a GPS aboard with similar diameter props of varying pitch and style have recorded speeds in the low to mid 90s (km/hr) that is until we, shall we say, "lost" the GPS !!! I still have to test with anything larger.
