Kb45 Powered 1/8 scale Miss Llumar

This is a video I must share

Check out the wheelie out of the hole and its powered by China's finest..... a 17xl KB45.

the Hydro was originally a nitro powered 1/8 and Chris (Chuff on OSE forums) has got it hauling. I think Chris is running a fairly small prop at the moment so there might be more to come yet!

10s 30c Zippy Flightmax Lipos, Etti 200amp HV ESC.

After running 4 laps of the full course yesterday it still had 4v per cell in the packs. The lipos were just warm, motor warm and esc cool...

    Nice one Chris!

That thing is killer! It needs a little more tuning to get that chine walk out but very impressive indeed!

That is about the 4th run I think, Still a lot of prop changes and tuning to go.

I remember another member saying kbs would work in scales in a 50 mm proprange on 10-12s. Amazing what you can find out through experimentation.

My bad it is a 17xl, have corrected first post.

There were a lot of people who said this would not work, They seem to be rather silent now

Yeah tell me about it. I bet his prop is probably a high pitch 50 mm. Im sure he wouldnt tell all thats like a racer opening his hood before he drags for pinks. This motor should see mid 50 -60's on a 1750. Like an "EX" member once said "It will push a scale". Rather well it seems!Keep us updated

That X Member sure had some good ideas, but they way he conveyed them rubbed a few people up the wrong way.

I think the prop was the same prop from initial testing, it was an x646/3. I shot the video.

hey, no secrets in our club...

The prop in the clips (so far) is a stock-standard Octura X646 3 blade

Boat running weight is 8.2 Kg (18 pounds for you 'foreign' guys)

Hull is a ply hull built to standard R Newton plans about 8 years ago.

As Matt said: Flightmax 10S1P 5000s 25 C, ETTI 200 HV ESC, 8 mm plugs on batts, 6 mm plugs on motor wires. Motor is Kb45 17 XL (for testing only)

Awaiting a Neu 1527 1.5 Y for the serious stuff....

                    Chris

I'll admit when I'm wrong. I was one of the guy's doubting the setup. I was basing it on MY experience with the KB45 motor. It ran extremely hot in a Triton mono I had. That being said, it looks like it's pushing this hydro very well. How are temps, all around? Do you think it would make for a reliable setup? When it comes to X, it has nothing to do with knowledge. He had a piss poor attitude fsince his second post on this forum. He did have good ideas, but proved nothing to me. He was rude to pretty much everyone that tried to help him, and others who he was intellectually superioir to. Glad to see him gone myself. He brought up this type of boat running this motor, and his attempt was unsuccessful. It barely planed out, and he said the motor was hot enough to boil water.

I got to feel the motor after the 4 laps, I would say medium warm, and that was after a Chris removed the tape and cowls.

I personally think yes, It would be a reliable setup. Some KB's appear to be shimmed to tight, they seem to be the ones that get hot.
