Yes sir. De-tongue it and add some cup and a bit of pitch and go have some fun.

You are correct Doug, mine draws between 84-90 amps, peaks to 130 from a dead start. I have not tried the H7 because it has less root pitch. The H10 is pitched no cup. Keep in mind the JAE is a very loose running boat so it has lower drag than many boats. The Turnigy is only about $50.00 for a 120Amp controller that allows you to change timing.

it says the h7 is a larger dia. than the h10 but with less pitch, seems if your gonna cup and pitch up the h7 why not use the h10- ill be using a hydra120

The specs on the UL-1 motor are.
                  Max.constant current 50amps.
                  Max.surge current 80 amps/5 sec.
We are going just as fast with the modded H-7 as we could with the H-10 and with less load. We were on a quest for 1mph/amp., and dang near did it.

Having said all of that. I've heard the motor and esc are under rated, so I guess there is nothing wrong with pushing them a little harder.

                  Have fun!!!

Doug how much pitch and cup are you putting in the H7? BTW the UL1 motor does fine at 80-85 amps.

                          Hi Eric,
A pitch guage has been on my list of "wants" since 06 but there is allways a "must have" that put it on the "one of these days list". LOL
Long story short. UL-1 motor and ESC , new Hyperion 4s 5000 35C.
I did all of my testing with a Eagletree Seagull , 100+ amp sensor and the GPS expander. I was testing several props to start with (1450s,H-10s, S15s with various mods, reduced back cut ect.) but landed on the H-7 pretty quickly (two weeks ) because I was just plain going 3 to 5mph faster with less load.
First I started adding some cup to flatten out the roostertail. Then it was several runs over a couple of weekends edit:adding pitch, trying to go 60mph pulling 60 amps. I ended up running 57 to 59 consistantly pulling 63 amps. The warmest thing in the boat is the motor wires at 109'F after a 1mile heat race.
What I found according to Eagletree is that after about 65 amps the UL-1 motor just won't give me any more and this was true with all of the props tested.
I am by no means a prop expert, but I've spent more time with props on this boat than any of my other boats except maybe my SAWs monos. It was fun and I learned some things, but I think I'm done until somebody hands me my tail at the races. Then I'll be lookin at his prop. LOL
Sorry I didn't have some solid #s for you. Got an extra pitch guage??LOL

                          Doug

Thanks Doug, so you only added cup? BTW I just finished my gage. I built one with a dial indicator. It was actually rather easy to build. I did find that I had to modify it to get repeatable readings though. The standard way the guys build them cause the ball on the dial indicator to get in the way and mess up the readings. I added a pointer that gets rid of the problem. If you have access to a lathe I can send you pictures of the one I made. You could probably do it with just a drill press.

Eric, I'm very curious as to what your gauge looks like and I know our local prop guru would love to see as well. Do you mind posting pictures here, even if it's in another thread?

                              Thanks!
