Repaired the damage and painted my Pursuit

OK, some saw in my chine walking thread that the bottom of my pursuit took a pretty nasty beating during a flip. Busted a chunk out of one of the chines and the transom by the trim tab and just lost a lot of gel from the bottom.

I wanted to take some during pics of the repair work but was busy at the shop and was busting butt to squeeze this in on the side so it never happened . I also made a through fitting for the transom to attach the water line to without feeding it through the hull, the hatch hold down (not installed yet as of the pics) and tweaked the stock antenna holder a bit to make it look better. Anyway, here are some pics. The color is 2005 Corvette Millennium Yellow with some white pearl sprayed over the top of it. The windshield is just some brushed nickle spray bomb I had kicking around.

Edit- changed first pic to a better one :).

Yes, it's cleared with a urethane clear. It is smooth and glossy but the pearl and crappy lighting make it look satin in pics. It's not in person though! I think you can see in one of the bottom pics if not, I'll try to get some better pics of it.

Edit- here you go, you can see a bit better in this pic.

Thanks! There is a better pic in the original post as well now :). I'll have to get some better pics of it in better light. Those were taken last night when the lighting kind of sucked.

Looks great, nice play with the yellow. Did you blueprint the bottom? I've just stripped out mine today as the gelcoat has cracked on a strake where the front of the battery tray was. Some cf inside and a new tray will happen. Not sure about attacking the bottom yet though.

Thanks Peter! I just flattened and smoothed the ride pads, it was cupped pretty bad on one side and the other side was damaged. I didn't mess with the strakes or anything as they are not in the water at speed with this boat anyway lol. The damage all happened in a crash which broke the motor mount, stuff tube, servo mount, etc. loose and the flexing made a mess of the bottom of the boat. I have since laser cut rails and such for it that run down the center and stiffened it up quite a bit!

Here are the final pics with the hold down installed. I cut a "knob" on the lathe and threaded it with a 10-32 (pic above in previous post) and used a small cut of silicone tube to hold it into the hatch so it spins freely but doesn't come out. I cut a "nut" for it with a step in it so that it fits inside a 1/4" hole from the back side to sit flush with the surface and epoxied it in place. Worked out very well and the hatch is much easier to remove now that there is the knob to pull it off with.

I'm really liking how the whole thing turned out- between the paint, the laser cut parts and the parts I made on the lathe. I just recently got the lathe and have very little experience using one, so I am learning as I go and have been happy with the results so far. It's pretty cool making my own custom parts as needed :). Pics don't do it justice, the pearl looks great on it (IMHO :)). I was debating doing some viper blue and gray stripes or something on it in the beginning but am leaning towards just leaving it as it looks simple and clean like this. The pearl yellow looks great with the polished aluminum hardware!

OK, I'm not typically one for stickers but found this at the local Advance Auto so figured I'd give it a shot. I'm torn, kind of partial to the clean look it had without it. Opinions?

                          bad cooling on motor:

outlet cooling jacket : higest point ,on top
                          inlet :side ,bottom
so you have to rotate the jacket and change the plumping :-)

I know, but the fitting hits the mount if I try to rotate the jacket to put the front fitting down low, so I just put it like that and ran with it. I am barely pushing things with this setup, so I'm not overly concerned, things run pretty cool as it sits. Thanks for looking out though :).

I like the clean look better then that decal,
The hull looks bigger with out it and better.
