I just ordered all the parts to build a spartan minus electrics. Any suggestions on a good 60mph set up?

A good setup for a 60mph fe boat doesn't involve the spartan hull in my opinion. Two of the guys I run with on a regular basis have modified spartans and cannot get any faster than the low 50's without the boat walking on them. One of the guys is almost $800 into his and my genesis is faster in the straights for only $400 including mods. The spartan is an ABS hull that is mass produced and designed for a starter boat that will run 6s batteries and go pretty fast but lacks in stability and turning ability. If you didn't spend too much for the sapartan you could sell it and go for something like the revolt and have a much better shot at 60mph without flipping every time. Just my opinion. -
It's funny you say that, I've got a revolt with a leopard 3674 speaking 180. On 4s it's fun to play around with on 6s it torque rolls on to it top when approaching full speed.... It's a fun boat, I'm doin a spartan bc my friend has one it dwarfs my revolt and can handle rough waters and can take a bashing lol! I've looked at the genesis in the past looks to be a good boat....Slow and steady isn't my paceComment

Not familiar with the revolt, but I agree that high 40's low 50's is the best to expect from the Spartan if you also want reliability and stability.
I don't believe anyone has really been successful completely eliminating the high speed chine walk on the spartan.
The leopard 4082 1600kv with turnigy/seaking 180 has been a popular motor/esc combo for the spartan that has proven reliable, and capable of achieving speeds in the 50 mph range with the correct prop.

i like the stock spartan set up, if you want rough water you slam the batteries forward, want fast and smooth throw em in the back...Comment

60's are realistic for the spartan i have done it dont give up with allot of time you can get it there stability is your biggest problem the setup i ran is crazy but it worked time and time again many said it was asking for trouble but i never had any and if you look through a calculator it was bad crazy rpm and amp draw but it worked for meIm Only Responsible For What I Say Not For What You UnderstandComment

I have mine running 58-63 mph, pain in the butt, I dropped the speed to 50, China walking is an issue at 60 plus the bow wants to rise up no matter hou much I tuck the rudder negative and move the lipos to the front, and my lipos are heavy traxxas 8400 mah lipo'sComment

I changed out the traxxas electronics for a turnigy 180 esc and a castle 1515 1yf can with one of Steve's cooling jackets. I'm using a 445 B&S prop. I have to use 2 x 4s 5000's in parallel to keep it running cool. It puffs the batteries if I use just one. Getting mid 40's out of it and happy with that. It's great for playing in the waves when I can't run my cat. Chine isn't an issue at these lower speeds. I'd love to see a vid when you hit 60 :)
The video says 442 prop, but it's a 445.

I just installed the ose upgrade for the spartan which is the 1600kv 4084 and sea king 180 on 6s it's slower than a stock spartan.... Not happy about that. It does runn cooler than a stock spartan.....Slow and steady isn't my paceComment
