    New Flex Shaft and STUB

I ordered 2 flex shafts and stubs from Jeff on Tuesday. Good thing because the Spartan shafts s--k. Broke the 2nd shaft today and lost the 2nd Prather s 225 prop, drive dog and prop nut. I can't wait to get a quality flex shaft. Thanks Jeff.

    Just an FYI

In addition to Jeff's flex shafts, and Steven here on OSE working on something.

I had an e-mail from Jan at Kintec racing saying he should have something up on his site within a week or so.

Sounds like his will be a flexshaft / strut kit that will change things over to the standard 3/16" (0.187") stub instead of the step down stub Traxxas uses.

Thanks Kevin for the info. Do you know if it will mount in the same holes?

You buy the .150 if you are using the teflon sleeve in the drive shaft.

yeah, that's what I got. I'd like to try and find a thinner walled teflon liner to experiment with the .187 before I try and run it with no liner in the stock tube.

I don't have a lot of details, Jan just said it would simple to mount.

The replacement stuffing tubes are not overly expensive, or you could make your own if you are comfortable doing the bends.

The nice thing about the Spartan is the stuffing tube is simple to replace since it isn't glued into the hull.

If you run a larger flex shaft, and do happen to wear through the stuffing tube, it is not difficult to replace.

Just a thought for those who are interested in trying.

I like the 5mm stubs....why? If you want to use 187 cable (like many will on 6S) you do not have to cut the outside winding of the cable making it a 150 joined in the stub like we currently have to on 3/16" stubs. You can insert the full cable which makes the unit stronger. Why change? You still get your 3/16" prop stub and 10/32 threads. Nothing wrong with the stinger on those.

Anytime you are considering a bigger motor like 4082 and a big meaty prop and 6S you better forget the 150 cables.
