I don't get it, is there a big fuss? Is it that 50 claim that has peoples panties in a bunch? They could have claimed 40mph and it would still be a really cool offering. Maybe they shouldn't have told us jack about speeds.

Steve's right though, 70mph is not for everyone. I hate running out of pond.

Not really, those 383's are only my port bow thruster setup.

Just sold my 1991 7.4L this summer...BTW, did you add the closed water cooling system? I thought that only came along with the 496 setup...

Nope... it came that way. My Dad purchased this boat new in 1991... I bought it from my Mom after he passed away a few years ago.

Just got done replacing the entire exhaust system with an HGE aluminum setup. Don't do much in the way of Saltwater, so I think it should hold up OK. Definitely a LOT lighter!

It's an also ran in Q-Mono/Offshore, but might be a good package for P-Mono/Offshore or for P-Limited Offshore, if the hull isn't over 34"...
Sorry Darin - seems they didn't design the boat with any classes (at least "P") in mind

Ok, so the hull length is 36.5"
does that fall into any legal class?

Any contact the Spartan may have in heat racewater would be a disaster for the Spartan hull to say the least.
Looks like Q according to Tony

How about a Traxxas Spartan class with nimh cells.

Yup... Q-Mono or Q-Offshore. I think it can still do well in that class if it's handling and stability are decent for it's size. Size limit for that class is 40", but I know several people who have successfully run 34"-ish boats with success.

Will have to see what kind of power it actually produces. 50-mph might work on 6S, but it's going to have to be a decent handler to make that speed work. I'm sure boats in this class are generally going much faster than this.

However, if it's anything like other RTR boats, getting the right prop on it may help a lot...

Actually that could work quite nicely for Q offshore. Especially if you can find a way to balance the mah you need in the boat to run 4 minutes.

Q mono might be a little too fast.

We don't know anything really. We need to get some guys playing with them to see what's possible. Race nut jobs really isn't the target audiance on this one but if it fits in a class and can compete right off the shelf......SWEET!

This is probably old news, but I was just on the Traxxas site and it is now Mid-December? Wasn't it November?
