Not any more. I've had a few. SV, Tenshock boats, Mini Rio, Mini C, I was going to buy this Titan. I like Traxxas, but December is no good for me in MI. I think I'll just stick to building my own. I may get one in the spring if they end up being of good quality.

      Why do you ask?

          Well

There are some of us that like to buy something RTR and we don't want to run 70mph, in fact 35mph is fine with me. It just seems that everytime a new RTR comes out on these forums, there is a pack of people dead set against them. On the other hand, other brands seem to be promoted more. I like Traxxas myself and I may try one of these. Right now you can get up to $80 off (Tower) and free shipping, can't beat that.

          thanks,
          Steve

I haven't seen any posts with people "dead set against it." People are just questioning the claims made by Traxxas.

HOW can you get $80 off at TH? They usually give only $60 off?

I have already made my decision to wait 'till spring anyhow. If it landed at my LHS tomorrow I would still pass on it. Just not enough time left before the lakes freeze here and I don't feel like having my warranty sit on the shelf and expire.

The claims most under question there would be 50mph+ and ready to race.

I personally think people are reading a little far into the "ready to race" thing, I take it as saying it's RTR and you dont need to purchase additional parts to make it run. Some people take that as saying it is ready to be competitive in an actual race, which is a lot different claim.

As far as 50 mph+...being able to go that fast consistantly without issues is a lofty claim. For starters, the RPM you would have to spin a 42mm prop at to get a 36" boat to go over 50 isnt usually in the range that a plastic prop would hold up. There are a lot of other hurdles to tackle but that is a simple one that jumps out right away IMO.

Why would you want a forum of uneducated people? I assume thats what you imply when you say "less professionals"??? Aside from the ease of blowing smoke up each others butts without anybody calling us out on it...whats the point? I enjoy the help I get here and only hope I can do the same for others.

I think you are absolutely correct. As we all know, RTR stands for ready to run. Traxxas made a cute and smart advertising slogan out of it and changed the last R to race. Here is a copy paste from their website. "Ready-To-RaceĀ®" Did anyone notice the little R in a circle. That's right, they registered this slogan so nobody else is allowed to use it legally. Saying race ready means simply you can race it with your friends or against a duck for that matter.

I think we all know and understand it will never compete in true RC race events up against several thousand $$ machines customs tuned and tweaked to perfection by people who have decades of experience behind their belts.

I for one am a total newb and for $325 I am tickled pink with the total package I will hopefully get before next spring. If I really enjoy this, who knows, one day I may be at the pond with my custom built kevlar, jet engine race boat.

Even though I am a newb I could probably teach all of you a little something about real boats as I have no less than 44 years experience at the helm. Here is a pic of my engine compartment of my express, engines installed and fitted by myself.

I have seen $2,000 Fuller boats crashed on the bank and stuck in the mud at the bottom of a lake on the 1st run. You guys that are brilliant don't often consider that beginners cannot drive 70mph boats. Another thing that you do is at once start pointing out that it needs more motor, more batteries, different props and this and that. The UL-1 and Super V27 had two pages of custom updates to make it compete and I even read read where the new tunnel will burn up in race mode if ran over 1 min and 30 seconds. laugh, scoff or whatever you want......it's all ego

                              Ask James

James asked them for a cupon to be added as well and got another $20 off. He had to call in to get this. I saw one by e-mail for $15.

I call it the Hobby King price sale at Tower

the UL-1 and specially the SV27, do not need pages and extra mods to make it race legal
