I'd go with the 1520. Bigger props, and 6s still.

The boat is also a big bastard. It's 36" remember. The 1717 would actually be good for a mono this size. It looks pretty dang good stock though!

I have a 1717 in a Losi XXL Monster truck running on 6s, The truck is roughly 16+lbs and that motor yanks it around like it's a matchbox car.

I bet it would be a great motor for it, tons of torque !

im guessn its probally just about the wieght of a 30" mono due to abs; so im guessn that motor is pretty good

Even though it may be lighter than a glass 36". It's still have the wetted area of a 36" boat.

Yes it does look good, and let's face it... If u upgrade the motor much a bigger esc will be in order which kind of ruins the clean looks ofthe well thought out electronics tray.... I'm gonna keep mine stock for awhile.... I still remember the first time I whipped out my erevo at a house party on 6s!! Everyone was impressed to say the least.... Traxxas knows how to create attention, and this doesn't look like it's going to dissapoint! :)

I understand where you guys are coming from but wouldn't the 1518 be much more efficent even tho it's a slightly higher KV than the TRX motor ?
TRX doesn't make junk but the Castle Motors have to be built with higher tolerences and be more efficent than them ? They are a Steve NEU design after all.

Yeah, It's a great motor, BUT it isnt a 6s motor. 5s may on that 1518. I had one, it's a great motor. Reguardlees of weight, once it has 6s in it, and being that it IS a big boat, it's still a lot to push. Notice only a 42 mm prop comes on the boat. Any bigger and the esc goes poof and the motor overheats.
