Looks good. Outlet can go wherever your heart desires it to be and/ or where it clears and works well. There really is no right or wrong. As long as water exists the hull. Some like it on the deck, some the side, some the transom. I prefer it on the side. Maybe just move it forward a bit to get it out of your way?

I got my new and improved offset bracket fabricated last night.I managed to integrate the rubber boot with a part from Du-Bro.Mounting this on the bracket as opposed to thru the bracket allows for more strength so I don't bend it anymore(it had happened twice). It'll be all about the plastic screw from now on.I did make another set of holes to move the rudder forward a bit,I notice it is up for discussion so hope to get to experiment with it.And now to finish blueprinting and wet sanding the hull for paint.rudder bracket 006.jpgrudder bracket 003.jpgComment

So my question is,what has anyone else done so far as clear over Testors paint?I have some of theirs but I haven't got the deep look from it that I desire.I had looked into auto paint but that's a whole new learning curve and I don't have the time.Comment

Upol clear, comes in a can and goes over many different type paints. I've used it over a lot of types and haven't had issues yet. It will give you an amazing finish.Comment

Thanks to Scott for a couple of tips on this.Just some pinstriping before I can clear it.And yes U-pol is safe with Testors laquer and enamel paints.
And heres how the transom extension turned out.

Make sure you give that clear at least a week before you tape. It may feel dry etc, then put tape on it and you have tape marks in it. Ask how I know.
I did that to my Popeyes themed boat. 48 hrs after I cleared I taped it off to do some adding of color to the hatch. Pulled the blue masking painters tape and there was residue impressions all over. Fortunatly they glassed out and dissappeared w/ another layer of clear, but I hadnt planned on doing that.

I got some U-pol on her last night and I guess didn't clean it enough or with the wrong stuff.I used a clean cloth and some(very little)dishsoap. That'll teach me to cart it all over town to find graphics. So I have these little fish eyes in a couple of spots. So I'll try wetsanding it tonight then coat it again.
