I was thinking of putting a Neu 1515 2200kv in my MG as well on 4S with a t-180esc, 5.5 connectors and an X642 prop. I'm interested to hear if anyone else has any experience with this setup or something similiar.
      Thanks!

Setup would be perfect on 4s and a t180. I am running the exact same setup in a 32" mono on 4s2p except it's a leopard 4074 2200kv not the cc1515 2200kv.... I think she runs fast enough on 4s2p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az0zIeJiZJA

i have the Neu Castle 1515 2200kv with the 180A esc and have had no problems on 4, 5, and 6s...just have to be careful when u get in the 5 and 6s setup...now i just need a cooling jacket so I can run for more than 2 minutes...getting 53mph on 5s with gps and that is with bad wha wha's and not tuning on anything...and a crappy prop...gonna true the hull and dial in the set-up with an m445 and i will be sailing in the 60's...

nice video Diesel runs nice i was running the 1515 in the spartan on 6s and the esc finally crapped itself i have a new one in the cupboard. but im selling the plastic fantastic spartan its on ebay as wee speak. the geico is heaps fun boat and i have run it more times than i have the traxxas with no problems except a broken prop. but have since put on a x442 still yet to run it with that prop.
also will i be ok just to run the single water pick up on the rudder with that setup?? i dont really want to modify the hull if i can help it.

                Thanks for comments.

I will add that running 5s/6s on that 2200kv motor is not the best IMO... Just want to add that.

From my experience, high RPM is where it's at but you have to use your head and prop down. Way down. I would use a x436 or MAYBE an x438 on a 2200 on 6S, depending on temps. Also, extra cap bank is necessary or the stock ones on the T-180 will be very, very hot and may even blow.

I ran a cc1512 1800kv and got 55.3mph on 6s with an m445 last week I ran a tacon 2000kv on 6s with an x642 and got 63.4 which is my best to date. This weekend ill be running a cc1518 1800kv on 6s and see what that thing does. Mid 50"s is plenty fast enough imo I was getting consistant 60mph passes with the tacon but a little over 3 min run times with gens ace 30c 5300mah packs which was fun to see what she could do but nowhere near enough time in the water

Have you done anything to your setup besides the normal rudder offset? I was running the offset rudder with 2200kv castle and 180amp ESC on 6s and 642 prop and getting 53mph...went with grim 42/55 on 5s and was getting 53mph also...now im going to try the m445...still get a little bit of the wha wha's that we need to work out but seems like i should be going faster??? I know that set-up is A LOT of the factor but I would think with that motor on some glassy water that I would already be in the 60's...and u know what batts i am runnin..haha

No not to much of upgrading. Offset rudder changed the motor mount to a water cooled 40mm leopard mount lowered my battery trays pitching my strut up a little bit and batteries are at the back of the trays I still get a little wah wah till it hits higher speeds then it smoothes out. I'm running a 1518 1800kv on 6s Saturday got a few props to try but should be well into the 60's. Try the m445 cause your running pretty slow for that setup. With my 1512 1800kv on 6s and m445 I was at 55.3 and your pushing more watts and more kv. Try going even with your strut and then pitch it up a litttle bit to get the bow out of the water my friend suggested that and it was a huge difference that plus I pushed the batteries back. I went from 49.8mph to 63.4mph and consistant 60mph passes just by moving my packs back and strut up

so extra caps are needed to not blow things, and yet high rpms are where its at?

                          high rpms do sound wicked!

Extra caps work as a safety precaution to not blow the existing caps by splitting up the amp load. People swear by the Rubycon caps, and though they might be some of the best out there, I added the blue Radio Shack 1000uf 35v caps to my T180 and the cap temps definitely dropped. The caps are "needed" mainly because of on/off throttle with high amp load. ESC temps are mostly the same considering you don't get too crazy with large props/high RPM. It's the caps that heat up otherwise.

From what I have learned on this forum and through my own experimentation, a large prop will hinder high speed when running high RPM and will generate tons of heat. Not worth it. You will have better luck and get higher speeds with a 4 series prop of a small size. For instance, when I run my 2650 on 4S, 2P I run a x440 max, x438 ideally. A buddy of mine runs a Neu 1412 2700 kv motor on 5S and he runs a x436 or x438mm prop. With the x438 his boat literally flips backwards, when already going faster than my 2650 at full throttle, at more than 3/4 throttle. Its nuts to watch!!
