Personally I would NOT run an M445 with the stock 45A esc. To me its a matter of when it blows up, not if. I swithed to a T-120 and after a 4min heat race, shes even a bit warm. And definitley go w/ 5.5s, no question about that. Deans will absolutely melt.

      Very interesting.
I didn't have any problems with the stocker. Even though its rated at 45amps I think you would shocked on what it can safely handle. I logged 70amp spikes and 60amps constant on the stock esc with a pb1800 kv motor. Currently I'm running a cc 1800 outrunner with a 42x55 without any issues. That esc is far from a 45amp esc lol. So far I have been running the stock esc since the boat was released and this is the 3rd motor I've had on it. She's pretty tough lol.

Ive seen 2 blow personally in front of me running M445s on the stock esc. I think some just get lucky, just like the 5 and 6S battels when the BJ26 was popular. I blew a stock esc back then running 5S, external bec etc etc, took all the precautions and it went up on run 3 running a x442. My thoughts are, if theres a chance, Im not taking it. Money for me anyway doesnt grow on trees anymore. Just my $.02 cause its all I can afford. Im also not one who like to tell someone "oh yeah, itll be fine", then when it goes poof, theyre all upset. Im just overcautious thats all.

Ran the M445 today and it ran great. The boat didnt bounce at speed and had zero prop spin at take off. The esc and motor were cold to the touch after 10 minutes of running. Still going to change all the connectors though.

Ran the prop again and did some temp readings.

                  Before running the temps were
                  Motor 65.1 / Esc 64.8
                  Did 6 high speed runs
                  Motor 79.7 / Esc 73.1
Did 4 more high speed runs
                  Motor 82.6 / Esc 75.4
Did approx 10min tight turns, short on/off throttle, figure 8s and oval, keeping motor under a load
                  Motor 84.2 / Esc 76.8

Thats very good. Whats the water temp? After a heat race today my motor running a M445 and a T-120, motor was 121, esc was 118 at hottest location, 4S2P at 91F, running 5.5s everywhere. Water temp low 70s

Thats the only thing I didnt check. I would guess mid 50 to 60. I know the temps will increase once the water gets warmer.

                        Motley motor timing

On a stock Motley Crew how do you adjust the motor timing?
Also i have a Turnigy 180a from a pro boat. Should i install this in the Motley?
Is there any difference between a M445 and a 42x55 grim racer?

                        Thanks
