Yeah thats gotta be a horrible feeling being a firefighter and watching your boat burn 25 30 feet away and you cant do a thing about it but swim faster! Luckly mine started on the stand and ended in the sand. Hope the new boat exceeds your expectations on FE Boating. I never once thought these things would move like this across the water. They only thing that would beat these things from a dead stop to 60 is a bullet.

oh man thats FUNNY ! After reading about several boats that have caught on fire, Im wondering why no one has made a water squirting firefighting rc boat? sounds like it might be handy to have on standby. or better yet why has no one designed an on-board extinguishing system? Sounds like a good project for a Fireman. I wont mention any names.....He he he , just keep us informed

So got the boat back today, charged up the 2s 7.4 lipos and put it in the water. I took it easy the first few laps and made sure it wasn't running hot. About the third lap in I decided to move my batteries to the outside and lower. Put it back and bam! It rolls over! So grab the surfboard and go get it. Take the hatch off and everything was good, so I moved the batteries back to infront of the motor. It handled pretty good that way. Although I have one complaint, it seems slower then normal even with the lipos? Now I'm not 100% sure but I didn't mess with the transmitter throttle gain.. Would that even matter?

Also what are my settings supposed to be on the programmer?? The shop said they have the timing on low and brake off?

If you moved your lipos to the front, then you have way too much weight up front, and you are running wet. That's why the slow speed.

          Personally, my settings are:
          lipo
          high cutoff
          linear
          low timing
          break off
          cutoff type slow down

can't remember if that's all there is

Personally, my 2s packs are about 1" from the transom, sitting low in the sponsons. You gotta keep in mind that this is not the greatest turning hull, so turning at full speed requires quite a bit of tuning and upgrading.

Guys - i'm having same original problem. I have a stock BJ26 running NiMh Intellect 4200mAh batteries. Throttle cutting out in the water but runs fine out of the water. I have tried the old "plug in batteries while hitting full throttle" trick and that used to work fine for me once. It went back to running normal. I haven't used the boat in a long while. Now when I tried running it the other day, it is back to cutting out again and I can't get it to run properly in the water and I have tried to reset the ESC manually using the above method. I keep the throttle down full and plug in the batteries and keep it fully throttle until after it beeps for the 3rd time.

My question is...I have read in other threads that it could be I have a bad battery? or it isn't holding the charge? How can I tell if it is a bad battery? I use a Vision Peak 2 charger. It seems to charge fine.

Should I simply buy the programming card? do you guys think that would solve it? How do I know that it isn't a problem with the ESC itself?

EVERYONE NEEDS TO UPDATE THERE BOATS TO LIPOS! ITS THE ONLY ETCHED IN STONE WAY TO STOP THE LOW VOLTAGE CUTOFF MOST PEOPLE SEEM TO BE ENCOUNTERING WITH THE 45AMP ESC. THE PROGRAMMING CARDS A WASTE OF MONEY IF YOU DONT UPGRADE THE BATTS TO! there is no point in running Nimh. they just dont have the umphff in the r/c world like they used to. Buy a good set of lipos and buy the programming card. set everything up as

              Batt type- Lipo
              Cut Off Voltage- High
              Cut off type- Slow down
              Brake- Off
              Timing- High
              Throttle curve- Linear

Only update with LIPOS! other wise you'll just have more and more touch the throttle for a second watch it start to plane out and blah it dies .
Get Lipos! Youll wish you never ran a Nimh battery after your first run i promise!
Make sure you get a decent pair or set of lipos. Also make sure the MAH rating is the same. Even more so if you intend on running 5s 18.5v ( one 7.4v and one 11.1v battery) Also make sure to read up on lipos if your not familar with them! there are alot of scares out there when it comes to burning your house down. Im new to them aswell but LOVE THEM, so far ive only had 1 pack swell up on me never exploded or caught fire. its laying in the yard right now by a sand pile (wondering if i can seperate the bad cell from the other 2). I have about 10 Nimh batts laying around all work awesome in cars. WILL NOT RUN MY BOAT! If you do what lipo instructions ask then no problems. AND you dont have to watch them like a hawk. i make a point to check mine every 20 mins during charging. So i see them once or twice during a complete charge cycle. Find a good charger, not a knock off thats where youll get hurt. Make sure you ask around and talk to a few lipo users and find a charger that meets your needs and time limits. Im using the HK Echo Six Balance Charger. You can find every thing you need @ www.Hobbyking.com Only bad thing about them. There located on Hong Kong! GAY! Use OSE they might be a little more expensive, But hey Steve is the **** ask him he can set you up to out run the Gumby Freaks and there fake stage parts!
