lol^ im going to take the boat back to the shop and see what they can do to get it right. When i bought the boat they said its a good beginner to intermediate boat... i didnt want a cheap walmart one. But from day one with this thing has been problems.. im not sure if i got a lemon one or not but it would break, then id pay to get it fix, it would break again.. ive gone through 3 sets of batteries.. then the lipos. im just wanting a fun boat!

it seems like im going to need to replace everything but the hull and the motor, and drive line.. but all the electrics were burnt up.. it was clearly the lhs fault. i even knew about the programmer but he said i did NOT need to reprogram it. if i can get another boat then id be happy but i just want this thing right

You should bring him the manual, and go to page 8, and show him what it says...

        "Caution: It is imperative that
you do not attempt to use LiPo
        batteries in the Blackjack 26
        Brushless unless it has been
        properly programmed or serious
        damage to the batteries and
        electronics may occur."

lol. Then ask him if he's absolutely sure nothing has to be programmed.

wow that sucks. Hopefully the owner helps you out. Personally, I don't think you'll get far in small claims. As one of the first things the manual says is to read it all before doing anything. Clearly, you also missed the lipo warning. You the user are ultimately responsible for knowing how to operate your model.

I would go after the LHS tho for misleading you into buying products they knew were dangerous. I'd try to warn as many people about them as possible, just because I'm a prick like that. lol. Stand outside the store, post ads, print flyers and put them all over the place.

Oh if they can't do anything, I was gonna buy another boat but I'll buy it else where. I'll make that known that they rip people off

The hobby shop you deal with, does it have a webpage? If so Post it here so we know not to buy when we stumble around to it trying to find parts in a rush! Sorry to hear they suck so much. Im with kookie_guy i would try to make a statement never know they might try and buy you off with a new boat to shut the hell up about them. Stranger things have happened.

alright guys! i talked to the owner and he told me he already ordered all new electrics (ESC, receiver, and batteries). He said he wants to go over and make sure everything is fine.. So im happy about this. now i have another question.. is the stock esc water proof? i think i might get rid of the tupperware and clean things up a bit. Also whats the best place for lipos?? i took out the battery trays and had them mounted in the center in front of the motor.. is this good? also what little upgrades can i do to make this boat better and more reliable?

Read Prop Nutt43's Posting in this forum selection "fixing the bj26s handling" it should give you all the info you need af far as hardware and cog (center of gravity)

That's great news. Hopefully you threw the guy who misled you under the bus. He should, as the least, get a good coaching by the owner.

Yes, the ESC is waterproof. The receiver is not. Yes you can get rid of the tupperware to clean things up. Lipos in front of the motor will put too much weight in the front. Ideally, you should have them low in the sponsons, close to the transom. Then you move them forward/back to get you COG right.

I have carbon fiber plates that I made, epoxied in place, for a nice flat surface to put the packs on. See pics at end.

As far as upgrades. New hardware, and bigger prop (octura X642) for more speed are a good start. As far as making it more reliable, it's actually a pretty solid and reliable boat right from the start.

Make sure you also get the programming card, and set it up for lipos, and high cutoff. And as WrknItUp said, do some reading on here. A lot of guys have done all the trials and testing for you, and they report the results every step of the way.

Im just wondering if Firefighter was your screen name before or after this fire? Anyhow glad to see the Owner is taking care of it, I had a similar problem with a 4wd rc truck and the owner told me they had too many in stock too take it back and did nothing, So I told him that not only will I never be back in his store, that I would also be sure and tell everyone I knew not to shop there. So if any of you are ever in Hollister Missouri (Suburb of Branson) dont go to the only hobby store in town TPA hobby center! I used to drive 50 to 90 miles to go to the next two nearest LHS's, but they know nothing about boats. and boy was I glad to find this site!!! couldnt have done it without what I've read about or have asked about on here. And I gotta know if your a firefighter by trade or just by hobby?? Someday you'll look back on this and laugh... and if you dont Im sure your friends will

Yeah I'm a firefighter by trade.. It was kinda funny thinking about my flame painted boat that's on fire, and I can't do anything about it! Lol I'm hoping I can pick up my boat tomorrow, they said my esc may have been a lemon from all the problems before
