Yes, don't run the motor on the bench. A quick blip to confirm prop rotation direction is all that anyone should even run out of the water. More BL motors, drivelines and ESCs are damaged by running full throttle out of the water than from any other single cause.*
* Okay, I made this statistic up - but I'm certain that a lot of the above problems reported are caused or made worse by out-of-water running. That is after all why ProBoat added the cutoff feature. So don't run the motor out of the water and get better batteries.....or go back to the stock prop so the load is lower and the cells can keep up.
